Me again!!! :sos: Soooooo.....putting the final touches on my R4 restore and get this: If you turn on the turn signals, they do not work.....unless......you leave the turn signal on for awhile and THEN magically the flasher/signals start to work.....usually about a minute but not always. I am thinking it may be the flasher because it may use the metallic strip heating method and it is corroded and takes awhile to heat up? Maybe. Your thouhts? :help: Anyway, all the connections are clean and tight, and the turn signals works great oncethey have been turned on for a minute or so....wierd. Anyone know of a way to wring out a flasher relay? So I was thinking of putting one of these autozone $7 turn signal flashers in. I read on another board they work good on scoots. The scooter online parts stores want like $30 for thiers. Real proud of them I guess. Ha!!

I'd say just buy the flasher. If it's not the problem, you have a spare. That should work fine. Some scoots have a different connector, but both of my Tritons have a connector that works with a standard flasher. No sense in paying $30 in that case. Even the others can be found for about $10 if you look hard enough.

Yeah they really vary in price on the internet, but Autozone is right down the street and no wait or shipping charges. Off to the zone. The Autozone part # is LL552 if anyone reads this down the road and wants one.

Great find man, and good idea saving some $. I did the same back when Skeedr was a DD and i needed one. Mine had one of the flashers that would beep every flash and it was less than pleasing to say the least. I went to the "Zone" and got the cheapest 12v flasher with the same style plug i could find ($2.50) and it worked great! And with no beep!

Back from the zone....they had the $2.50 ones too that 2strokd mentioned with the same 2 blade terminals as the scoot - 12 v in and to the lamps. The package said the cheaper one uses the metalic thermal strip - which is not so so good in the Florida humidity caused you can't open them up to clean the contacts. The $6.99 one is solid state and probally will last longer in my climate. I'll try it out this evening when I get home. Got it on my lunch break.

So I put in the new #6.99 Auto Zone turn signal flasher and BINGO!!!!!! The whole lighting system works PERFECT now. It even makes the awesome automotive clicking a turn signal relay should make. hose cheep metal strip thermal ones suck. BTW - it is a direct plug in to the Vento harness plug. No mods needed. Just zip tie it some where convenient and you are good to go. BTW - a good new flasher will show continuity with an ohm meter. The bad one showed an open. (removed from harness in your hand)
