So I finally put my jdm light on. Bought it on yahoo auctions from japan. My problem is theres a gap between the body panel and the light which is weird. Only way to get rid of the gap is to space it out at the bolt holes and tilt it. I do have a new taiwanese one but i heard theyre garbage. Anyone else here have this issue?

I run into this issue all the time with my honda dinosaurs. jdm dj1/ 87 elite 50 have different handle bars with mounts in different places than USM bars. and the rear inner wheel well that mounts bottom of taillight is different so jdm tail light on US scooter is cocked out with out modification. 84 NN50 gyro USM tail light mounts with 2 little filler panels between it and rear fairing. but JDM tail light mounts directly to rear panel mounts and does away with these fillers. but others do fit flawlessly. like the 84 aero/ tact tail was a direct bolt on no modifying. so its a crap shoot. some bolt right up, some need another JDM PIECE TO MOUNT OR SIT CORRECTLY

Im gonna have to modify it. Maybe heat it up and bend it or space put the bottom to tilt the top in. It mounts to the rear of the actual frame.

Could be a low quality repop piece, or maybe it's just your scooter.. my jog came with a JDM tail, and it wouldnt quite fit right but I think that's cuz the rack wasn't on. It didn't have anywhere near that Gap tho.

Bought it on yahoo auctions from japan. I congratulate you on that. That is not an easy thing to do. A nightmare of a website. How the hell did you manage to do that? They have an English site? And the seller shipped to foreign address?

I've only had one that ever lined up right. Out of two that I bought. I think it came from webike Japan. Anyway. Easiest way for me was drilling two 1/8" inch holes. One in the rear of the fairing and one in the top of the tailight plastic. Then I used a small black zip tie to pull them together. Hard part was threading the zip tie through the holes while the tailight was installed. 1/8" holes. 1/8" wide zip tie. If I can find a pic I'll upload it.

If you zoom in closely you can see the zip tie sticking up a little. But the gap is closed nicely. If that helps.

And the seller shipped to foreign address? Super late here lol but yea they did. I ordered two thinking they were both actually jdm but one was a taiwanese replica. Looks nicer since its new but i heard the taiwan lights are crap quality. I have a heat gun so i might try and heat it and bend it in.
