Hi, I have a 2002 Yamaha bws 50 with a 70 cc big bore, polini air filter, and Yasuni Z exhaust. When I take off I have a quick burst of acceleration but then all the way up to 40 kmh it doesn’t pull very well. Once I hit 40 it hits top gear and gets in the power band and pulls really hard until too speed. I was wondering what contra spring clutch springs and variator weights I should adjust to.
Thanks.

Have you jetted the carb for the 70 kit? Are you using an open filter? Would definitely try some lighter rollers. If your belts not slipping I would leave the contra spring. You could try stiffer clutch springs.

I have not re jetted the carb I have an open foam filter. When I put the 70 cc kit in i was going to see how it ran and it runs really good still. Belt rarely slips, only if the tire is spinning and it catches grip very quickly. Should I re jet the carb so it can get all the fuel it needs or should I leave it.

Definitely rejet. Lean scooters run great until they don't. Hopefully you just soft seize and don't fully seize it.

By the look of the spark plug it is not running lean, the spark plug is brown.

And it has also fouled a spark plug when i was starting it in the cold I had to kick it a lot but I think it’s getting a good amount of fuel.

I would still go up on the main jet. If you have put a 70 cc kit and an open filter on without increasing the jetting, it will be lean.

Ok I don’t know what size the main jet is right now. What size should I get?

It's always best to have a look at what's fitted. You will never know for sure till you look. That will at least give you a starting point.

very useful to read through the Scoot FAQ section. there is a section on carbs and jets and tuning. a lot of your questions might be already answered there because there is a lot of detailed information.
