Forgive me if my search skills are not up to par. A question about oil pumps for a Minarelli Horizontal Clone. Mine is a Keeway F-act 50.
I am new to scooters. I want to use oil injection in my medium performance 70cc build.
The existing oil pump is a Mikuni cable operated unit.
I have found that some engines use a non-cable operated oil pump.
I am thinking upgrading the carb would be easier with the non-cable pump because I can eliminate the cable splitter and pump cable and use a single cable to the carb.
Which pump would you experienced builders use, considering I don't want to use premix. Do they both use the same drive gear?
What do you think?

You just can,t trust the oil pump to keep up,go premix it,s not difficult.your 70 kit will stress the engine be kind and make sure it has oil.

I have used the oil pump on my 70cc bores and I even used it on my 90cc block. I like the ease of just filling up gas at the gas station and not having to mix the oil. I adjusted the cable on my stock pump when I installed the 70cc bore.
Some people prefer to premix, so that they do not damage their engine if the injection pump fails. I prefer the ease of just filling up gas with no premixing. Just so you are aware, I run a TTO Cylinder Head Temp gage, so I can monitor my running temps. I know what the my tune is set to (350°F at WOT) so if I see temps spike up beyond it's known running temps, it would indicate to me that something is wrong with the oil delivery in my case.

New question: When I pulled the stator I tore the gasket. I am going to replace the gasket. I need to know what to lube the oil pump gears with. All I can find is reference to "special lube" what was in there was some runny old grease.
What do I use? Maybe a picture of how much grease, if grease is what you use? I have looked at several manuals. Unclear.
Thanks.

In the Yamaha manual it’s called LS, lithium soap. White lithium should also be fine.

on a friends big bore vino, and my big bore Hondas, we adjust the oil cable by going full throttle then twist the adjusting nuts to max on the oil pump throttle. usually 3-4 full turns. then retighten adjuster locking nuts. if your worried at first throw a cap full or 2 of oil in the gas tank on fill ups. this has worked on stock carbs, bigger carbs, walbro diaphragm carbs. how could you not trust an automatic oiler? only problems I have ever seen them have is being ran out of oil. and/ or air in lines and not priming it out after being ran dry.
