Are mirrors part of the DOT requirements for scoots? If so is one ok or MUST you have two? Anyone?

In NC, at least you must have at least one mirror. Doesn't matter what size, shape, etc. but it must be there.

This shows some motorcycle laws by state and includes mirrors. Not sure it follows the same code for scoots, so you'll need to look into it locally to know for sure. www.eastcoastmarc.org/art_laws.htm

thanks - previous owner stripped out the mirror hole on the right side. I was hoping to get away with just one for now, but I guess I could get a ticket. Where did you get those handle grip mirrors Brent?

Where did you get those handle grip mirrors Brent? If you have a bicycle shop near your house you could probably find something to get you by. There are zillions of different configurations of them :spin:

interesting info on there. i love the fact that in Colorado you don't have to have a helmet but you do need eye protection. makes since honestly here in MO you don't need eye protection but you need a helmet. Sadly that info is from 2001 so out dated.

Not sure it follows the same code for scoots, so you'll need to look into it locally to know for sure. www.eastcoastmarc.org/art_laws.htmExcepting: In most places these things (50cc scooters) are considered to be "mopeds". Moped requirements are usually very rudimentary (usually dating from the 60's) eg: white light at the front, red light at the rear (much the same as a bicycle). Federal requirements are more up to date, but it isn't them writing you a ticket at the side of the road, and it is hardly likely a State, or city, cop is up on Federal law, or about to try and enforce it.
