Haven’t gotten around to the crank seals quite yet, But I won some carbon fiber reeds from Zumasrus.com in their monthly name that part contest. I’m installing them now. The steel ones still seemed ok after 13 years as I’m almost certain they are original but since I won them, might as well use em’ right? Is there any gains to be had? Has anyone even noticed? Most say just switching to carbon reeds will save your engine in case a reed breaks but still even if a carbon one chips off, I still see some type of damage. Will report back with results (if any)

I went to Steel to Carbon . I wish i could say something along the lines is Throttle response was amazing Just wheelied right from go my top speed went up 7 mph .
I struck out with those ambitious goals but If my reeds fail now It doesnt make junk of my motor .

I definitely noticed an improvement in throttle response.

Oh yea!! You 2 were right! The gains improved were much noticed. It just feels like it has more torque through the whole powerband now, especially when it hits the pipe. Speaking of pipes, I know I’m due for an upgrade, this LeoVince TT just isn’t cutting it for the Streetrace beefkit that wants to keep pulling past 9500. I’m eyeing another Yasuni. Just the sheer quality of the pipe itself let alone the performance, the C20 has been doing great on my Zuma, but I think I’ll hold off on that now at least until I can get the crankseals in. I’m sure the OE crank with 20k plus miles isn’t going to take constant powerband hits over 10k rpm I just don’t see it happening, but I know the potential is there. I’d like to upload a comparison video on YT, post here, and show the difference JUST carbon petals can achieve.
I’ll be glad to get back to commuting with it after this long winter, plus parking+gas savings to DC far outweigh the benefits of not throwing a hundred bucks or so at this old thing. It’ll save wear and tear on my truck too, the first gen Tundra’s chew through lower ball joints for breakfast what seems like every 10k miles or so, can’t seem to find quality aftermarket parts these days unless you wanna pay OE prices, the scoot way is the cool/smart/thrifty way for sure! I work in the commercial trades industry so I’m still considered an “essential” worker. The low volume of traffic will put my mind at ease to and fro as well so that’s another big plus. I’ll keep ya posted. Stay safe my fellow 49ccscooters!

Everything has going pretty good with this bike, haven’t been riding it to work as much because of the different job site I was one was much too long of a commute for scootin’, but luckily gas prices have tanked so driving a V8 equipped Tundra is not as bad as it seems. Some things in question after it’s last fiddled with (carbon reed petals) are: 1. 19mm carb or perhaps larger 21. I like the Polini line of gaśsers* 2. Maybe time for a new belt. 3. Theres still some odds and ends in my scoot box of fun like springs etc.
