Because in the chassis rail is the obvious place to put it Morris!

If I remember correctly you have to either loosen or remove the torsion bar to get one of the master cylinder bolts out. Glad it's not me doing it 😊

I thought these old cars did not need an MOT now? Would still want working brakes!

My old 53 Plymouth had the master cylinder on the frame rail under the floorboard. At least the old cast iron brake components could be honed and new rubber parts fitted. Somewhere along the line they started using cast steel which pitted to badly to hone and rebuild. Nice old car. Maybe while it is in the shop they can get the steering wheel refitted on the correct side

Wow I had forgotten you could hone them years ago, I remember doing it myself and using seal kits. Last time would have been on my ex's Bedford 330 c.i. coach FrankenMech

Yeah I’ve rebuilt a few old masters with a hone and new o rings. It’s funny in the mid 90s when I had my 54 Plymouth there was a local mom and pop parts store that had a ton of parts for it on the shelf

You also should fix the steering wheel and pedals... Someone mounted it on the wrong side

May be too late...I had similar issue with my '62 Sunbeam Alpine. Clearance. This from a UK site: www.morrisminorowners.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=112I had slightly different issues, as my car was a Rootes Group set up race car, thus had a different brakes, but just as much shite to write. Since you are in the hole...Lever shocks too? Yucchhh!!
