I cleaned my air filter in soapy water and re-oiled it with 40wt motor oil thinking that it would be okay. I've noticed an oil spot on the floor directly under the air filter where I park it so I guess the oil has gravity fed to the floor. I know there are many types of filter oil(s) out there but I would like a few recommendations as to what works best for the least $$$ Thank you!

I use PJ1, works great until ya spray a cheapy K&N (paper)clone down w/it. Clogs em up pretty quick.

I prefer UNI oil in the aerosol can, its nice and sticky As Brent stated it lasts for quite a few applications

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping to not have to spend more than a couple of dollars but I guess that's just the way it is.

Hey, 2cycle oil works just fine . Nothing thick, just a thin coat. I soak the excess oil out w/a paper towel when i go that route. Hell, you dont ride in must dusty dirty stuff do ya?

Hmm... I know that the manual says to use oil for the filter, but I cleaned my filter the first day I got my scoot and never oiled it since. Is that bad? Or does it not matter that much? Does it change the way the scoot runs?

Oil should help the filter collect more fine debris. I run my stock filters with not oil, no issues.

If the foam type filters have been oiled well in the past even after a good cleaning you will still have some oil in the filter. The oil is more for dusty "dirty" air, also help preserve the filter.

I figured it was necessary to oil the filter to keep the jetting right. I went out there today and it's still dripping 40 wt. I guess I'll squeeze it in a towel so it stops dripping and not worry about it.
