Thats a cool truck! I gather lorry is not exclusive to what we call Semi-Trailers in the US. Can it be used for any large cargo vehicle?

What you call semi's we tend to call artic's over here, well most of the people I know do but it could vary regionally. Lorry tends to be a rigid vehicle 7 and a half tons and over and truck usually smaller but that varies too. My son in law calls lorries trucks as well. All very confusing and varies with region, age group and country

I alway took Lorrie as a large truck like in the 5-10 ton range.

Thank you for the clarification. I shall henceforth refer to all vehicles as scoots. Small scoots, big scoots, really big scoots. To avoid any confusion, of course.

Very nice lorry/truck!
Names for everything vary. Language is fun, but I hated 'English' teachers here in the USA. The teachers did everything they could to take the fun out. It was unbearably boring and repetitive. English classes in K-12 were an absolute nightmare...
From reading many books published in the UK or Ireland I picture a Lorry as any sort of large non-articulated cargo carrier. Cargo meaning not people most of the time.

No its a Leyland badged as a daf the result of a merger between the two company's daf trucks famously only made trucks 16tonnes and over that,s a 7.5 tonne truck.I like the daf back in the 1970s streets ahead of Leyland.my grandad had a daf33 car mid 60,s cracking CVT I,m told.a lorry here in the UK refers to anything and everything bigger than a van.we used to call them HGV,s but they are now LGV,s,change is the only constant.

Had a couple of Daf 55's with the Renault engine never the most economical car. I remember someone jacked his up in his garage where I worked at Broadmoor Special Hospital and was really jerked off with it. Started it up put it in forward gear rev it then kicked the lever into reverse. Damn great big bang and stink of rubber band and smoke, he said there we are never have to work on it again. Time to call the scrapyard take it away.

When I saw the original image I thought if I were the owner I would be tempted to stick a letter 'T' on the end of the name to call it 'DAFT'. But it is in such nice shape that would be a bad idea. It sounds like it would be DAFT to own one.
