With rain in the forecast, no cars showed up. But, proving those who ride on 2 wheels are more adventurous, there were a handful of motorcycles and a few scooters. First pic, judging from the license plate, a '74 Suzuki 185. 3rd pic, a Blur 220, (with a moped sticker?) 4th pic is Univ of Michigan's solar powered competition vehicle. Last pic; I managed to find the heaviest downpour for my ride home.

That GT185 is so nice damn ..... um... for the few exceptions to the rules, me included. not all Harley riders are created equally!! I ride 2 wheels 365. every day! id like to consider myself a real rider. ill ride rain or shine, cold or hot. scooter or Harley, street or track. its hard for some to ride their $40,00+ toy in the rain where they might drop it, someone could run into it, or be struck by lightning, as to where a scooter @ $200- 15,000? (I know that's a stretch) is a little easier to stomach a fuk up to. also these days, there aren't many real riders out there Harley scooter or street bike. most are trendy, look at me, hope this makes me cool, types of people. last thought is most that ride scooters are riding their primary every day transportation, most Harleys are toys. a second or 5th vehicle. far from their only means of transportation. so please reframe from lumping the real with the fakesters that sadly are taking over the world. the bikers of the 60,70,80's would laugh at the wanabe sons of malarkey riders out there today. so remember what we were, not what most are now.

I'm guilty of talking crap about Harleys plenty of times, but honestly don't believe you can put any type of bike owners into one mold. If you lived around the beach here and only the crazy tourists on rental scooters, me trying to race cars and do power wheelies, and some of the locals that zip through traffic 2 inches off of someones bumper... you'd prob think all scooter riders must be reckless morons. There are plenty of us out there, but I know we aren't all like that.
That said, I go to the swamps on the TMAX because they're full of tight turns and have to pass slow moving Harleys or get held up if the road isn't straight. I get to traffic lights and Harleys are revving their engines for seemingly no reason with obnoxiously loud pipes wherever I go. I've never seen another motorcycle brand that does so well at convincing it's riders to accessorize themselves with Harley jackets, Harley boots, Harley gloves... Harley everything. One of my father's friend is a huge Harley fan and at one point a genuine outlaw biker type that has been in prison. He came up to the house and said he would race any bike on his Harley and then my friends showed up on a CBR600RR and a TL1000 and he said he wouldn't race those. I mean there are some things that are kinda prevalent if we're honest.
I even get annoyed because I come across scooter riders that do just want to ride to work and I want to race and they think I'm crazy. We prob all get questions about gas mileage because that must be why we scoot. I get 30MPG on T2 lately and burn expensive oil in every tank of premium. I had a Harley guy call my scooter a toy just last weekend. I've had bikers chuckle when I attended a ride. I've been denied access to a local motorcycle riding group because the TMAX is a scooter. If you ride a sport bike some people figure you must be a squid. If you ride an ADV then some will prob think you travel the world when you may just take it to work. I think we all have to deal with something good or bad regardless of what we ride.

Just to be fair about this, not all scooter owners are scooter riders. Take a look at Marketplace, or Craigslist, and you will see dozens of ads for 10-15 year old scooters AND motorcycles with very low mileage. Both of the scooters I bought, one 13 years old, one 11 years old, had less than 2000 miles. Obviously, these scooter owners didn't ride every day. That's a good thing for buyers. Lots of good, low mileage bikes and scoots out there. Bad news...not enough space in my garage.

It was pristine, though it would need to be gone over after sitting for so long. Basically off the showroom floor and then stuck in the corner of a garage for 11 years till the person was moving and needed to get rid of it. I seriously considered that one. I always think man it must be nice to be able to spend $10,000 on something to ride it once or twice.

Your all right , you can't just paint all the Harley guys as Fair weather riders ! I have a friend who has a bagger and he is all ways working on that thing because he just flat wears it out with the weight and his riding style .
