well in my saga of scoot issues lol i stumbled across an issue which caused the spark to fail, i had no spark and upon a suggestion from dean (a fellow scootdawger) i cut the black and white wire to the cdi, that must have gone to the kill switch, after that wire was cut the scoot had spark and came to life, only issue now is that when i tried to shut the scoot off it didnt turn off, i finally killed it by touching the wire that was hanging from the cdi to metal, im glad to have it running again yes, but the question is what really went wrong, post as soon as you can as i would like to know if i need a new cdi so i can order one by 2 pm EST (tomorrow)
FYI i have current flowing to the red and black wire from somewhere (enough to shock me when i was testing the volts with my meter (stupid me) but nothing coming out of the green wire or the black and yellow wire (those go to the coil to charge the spark) and nothing coming out of the red and white wire (which goes up the frame to a bullet connector then changes to a blue wire and disappears into the area behind the flywheel
so we have current flowing into the cdi, nothing coming out of it, and after cutting the black and white wire i have spark
WHATS NEXT!!!!!

Very clear posting..... about as clear as mud. This is your CDI wiring: On your unknown Saga scooter, of unknown engine size (because it is a secret?) out of your stator comes two sets of wires: a pair in bullet connectors, and a bunch in a modular plug. It is the ones in the bullet connectors that do the ignition system (go to the CDI), the ones in the modular plug go to the voltage regulator for battery charging. question is what really went wrong? On the picture (above), of the CDI, to shut the ignition off the terminal at the left top (clearly marked: to kill switch) must be grounded. It get's grounded in 3 possible ways: 1) kill switch 2 ignition switch 3) side stand down switch (on the side stand) Because I can't quite see your bike from here you are going to have to investigate the reason that wire has for being grounded.

If I had a no spark issue I would investigate starting with the spark plug wire, and then check the coil, cuz besides the spark plug, those are the last two things which make up your spark circuit. If those check out then move down the line. Cdi, regulator, stator..etc.
I was informed that cdi's rarely go bad, But you can get an aftermarket one for 25.00 in most cases. And dont be naive about checking all the connections. unplug some stuff, maybe use a lil dielectric grease, and plug some stuff back in. Ya never know..When I first got my scoot I didnt believe the hype about a loose connection. But I was wrong because I did find a bad connection in the harness that comes off the stator(behind the flywheel). Dont know exactly what it was or what wire, but after I did a lil unpluggin n such, it would charge. I used the dielectric grease on those wires and havent had that problem again so far.

well thanks for the advice i think ... the question was for my 2006 unitedm otors 150cc scooter, whether the stator has gone bad or the cdi, i will admit 1quik had some good points, i have already checked both sides of the coil wire and the plug wire, it has brand new plugs, as long as that black and white wire is cut it runs fine,
BRENT HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reveeen is pointing you in the right direction. Check out the 3 things he lists. There is likely a problem with one of them. Try checking each of them for continuity on the appropriate circuits. The kill switch and side stand switch should be just 2 connections, easy. Might need to look at a wiring diagram for the ign switch if the colors don't match the common ones.

well i know the coil and the plug are good, i checked both ends of the plug wire, i also checked both ends of the cdi going in and out, as you know when that wire was hooked up there was no spark but now that it is cut i get spark, Dean (from scootdawg) told me that he is pretty sure it is a cdi, they are only 10 bucks but something about thisi s nagging me , i checked the grounds but found no shorts

Ok everyone, the bike is back together for the LAST time in my ownership, right now i have a wire running out the vent hole and i touch it to the vavle cover head and it shuts the bike down, i can take the key out while it is running and it will stay running (good so i can now get in the glovebox or trunk without having to turn off the bike anymore)
The bike will NOT start unless the key is in and turned on, so its still somewhat secure
I am thinking of ordering a cdi, i checked every ground and every connector, i didnt pull the flywheel off no because i dont think i want to get into that stuff right now on a bike im going to sell
I appreciate all the help but there was no apprent short or ground issue to be had, there was NO wires or switches under the side stand and nothing on the frame where the center stand once was either
taking this thing apart all the time is getting to much and i dont want to do it anymore
I would rather sell it with the kill switch and ignition off working lol
but im not tearing the bike down again, the most i would do is order and replace the cdi
thanks everyone

well score one for the dawgs here, i desoldered the black and white striped wire from the kill switch, then i rewired the cdi up, the engine starts and i can shut it off with the ignition, thanks everyone for saving me the buying another product i didnt need sometimes with these scoots it can be guesswork, or im just an idiot in the dawg pound. I just recieved my new petcock that i ordered from scrappydawg, which i DID NOT need lol now i have a spare Thanks everyone if anyone knows where i can get a new kill switch let me know, im not in a rush but if i can replace it no biggie! Thanks everyone! Read more: scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=talk&thread=43110&page=1#ixzz1WkRaAs5O
