I would like to let every one know to be cautious when buying oil drain plugs by Prima. Kit number 1300-1007 When I received mine 2 of the 3 bolts work fine. But the large one that has the screen filter requires you to install the round magnet, the magnet is to big for the plug. I called the shop I bought it from and they said it will fit you just need to use a rubber mallet on it. I did and it shattered into 3 pieces . Its pure junk. The whole kit looks poorly made. You better off putting a Neodymium magnet under the spring of the stock plug.

I had the same problem with the same kit. Exactly . I didn't have a rubber mallet but I did try tapping it gently after oiling it and it crumbled . Tossed it and just used a magnet I had on hand. Also the stock nut has a deeper well than the Prima nut . On top of all that I noticed a couple of drops of oil on the floor yesterday and when I looked I found oil dripping slightly from one of the other bolts that came with their kit. Cranked it a little more . We'll see if it's gonna keep leaking . Hope my regular magnet is ok to have in there . It's just one from Lowes or somewhere. What's with the neodymium ; won't any ol magnet be ok?

The Neodymium Magnets are a lot stronger than the ceramic ones . I bought both and Im going to turn them down to the right diameter at work since I work in a machine shop. Both require a diamond grinding wheel . I strongly believe I can make a better one.I did buy the ceramic ones at LOWES . The transmission plug I will drill out about 1 thousands smaller than the Neodymim then use a press to squish it in so it never comes out.

I did grind one of the ceramic magnets with a bench grinder and it works but looks ruff. I will do the other ones at work.

magnet is to big for the plug Wonder how freezing the magnet, and heating the plug on a stove element prior to assembly, would work . . using proper safety precautions?

Don't really know. I looked at neo magnets all over the web yesterday and I see that some are heat sensitive ; it said the magnetism was reduced but only until the magnet cooled down again . I'm just about to call some of these places , if I can find some here in the states. I want a couple of the N55 . I still have to search for scooter engine running temps. Maybe it's here at the forum . SOS at Amazon .I see reviews complaining. It's hard to figure out if something is worth buying sometimes. So thats why I'm gonna call around. Aren't the plugs aluminum ? or at least different metal from the engines . Why do you have to do that. Don't you have one that will just drop in the plug ? I thought you found some other than Prima.
Maybe just boiling the plug in water ??

That should also work . . similar to boiling carb jets in a microwave while submerged. GY6 139QMB 50cc 4-stroke hot engine case temperature is around 220°F.

Ok, SCOOTERWORKS Was quick to send me a replacement and this set was perfect . The large magnet just dropped into place perfectly . I didn't have to press, tap any thing. So my first order was defective . Poor quality control . Buy still the ones I made are twice as strong. And I tested them in almost 300 deg in a deep fryer .

This is what I found so far after I finally googled "magnets in USA". www.kjmagnetics.com/ A lot of great info . I think I can get 1 custom magnet for a relatively few dollars . I'll maybe get 2 .You should read their FAQ page all about effects of heat on magnets etc . I talked to someone on the phone yesterday but I need to send an email to their engineers explaining about the plug and temp requirements and see if that would be a custom magnet or if they have 1 off the shelf already . I read where moisture can degrade /destroy some magnets . I would consider oil... moisture . Most of their magnets have a temperature limit of 176F . I'm taking that shit ceramic I put in --- out today before it breaks up inside my motor .
