My Bare Bones 87 Elite 50

its an se50 i picked up for $150.






plan's try to register it. it is out of the system.
when registered try and gather enough body panels to make it whole, if i dont want it bare bones any more. we will see when the time comes.
when registered save for a dio swap. :twisted:


if not registerable do a goped style build like the ones that capturedbyrobots has built.

give me feed back please good or bad. i will try and get some more pics asap.

as you can see it has a bunch of different things on it headlight, blinkers front and rear, taillight.

parts i have for the bike so far.
death grip's. (they are black with little skulls)
head light (i will see how it looks.)

in this pic there is a little hole on the exauhst can i just put a screw or bolt to plug it?

Pretty cool. I love my "naked" scoot. I seem to enjoy riding it more than the full bodied scooters I own. They suck for 2 things though. 1)Top speed. You can definitely tell the difference with and without an aero front fairing. 2)Cold weather. It's very nice to have all those fairings around you if you ride all winter long.

That hole in the exhaust could probably be fixed with a bolt/screw but it would be better with a welder. If you can't weld a welding would make quick work of that for very little cost. Sometimes people will drill small holes in exhaust systems rather than cleaning out gunked up 2T exhausts. If you notice a lack of performance when it's plugged, you'll need to look into cleaning or modifying your muffler.

i started the elite up last night in the garage and man did it smell like straight gas. do you guys think it's the crappy air filter? tonight ill take the filter off and see if there's any difference. running lean?

if anything its rich. Did it clear after it ran for a minute?
Could have just been the choke combined with a restrictive airfilter?
If you do replace the filter you may need to change the main jet....

i only let it run for like 30 seconds since the gas was getting to me in the garage. ill let it run today and see if it changes.

i let the elite run for like 5 minutes and the gas smell kind of went away then i took the filter off and gas came out of the intake side of the carb. (wtf?) is happening to my elite?

It could be too much fuel, perhaps a float setting issue. Maybe a reed valve is worn and sticking open a bit.
