I got this beatup 03 zip for $100. I cleaned the carb and got if to start on first kick every time. I left it sitting for a week and now It wont start. The plug comes out wet. I leave the plug wire connected and touch the end of the plug on the case and kick it and get no spark. Why would it just stop like that? Any suggestions for troubleshooting it??

Is the engine kill switch on the right handle grip set to run?

<sigh> I hope when I'm ready for my Vento I'll be able to find one for $100! Anyway, as Brent said, electrical stuff fail for no reason all the time. They truly are the weakest link in an automotive environment. That said, it could very well have been something simple like an already compromised wire being finally broken by the hassle of you removing the carb to clean it etc. Who knows...that link Brent put up should suffice in finding the failed part.

this particular model does not have a kill switch on the grip, only the key ignition. Anyways, i did find a loose connection on the coil. It looked fine to the eye, but came right out of the spade connector when i pulled on it. Bike started up first kick as usuall. Thank you everyone for the help.

Congratulations. That's usually what happens. Some frail wire gets knocked in the "right" place and before you know it you join 49ccscoot and start asking questions! LOL!

Thats how I became part of the family,Tango. It also helps that the 2 stroke sections of this site are kinda Vento-oriented.

I'm glad that I can find so much Vento information here. That's gonna be the scoot I'll be looking for in a few months. I'm thinking I'll be ready for the real search by around December or so. Wish me luck!
