Hello all! I'm new here I wasn't sure where to post this question so my apologies before hand if I posted it in the wrong place. I have a 49cc Yamaha vino not sure what year exactly. It has ran great for years now I've never had any issues up until yesterday I went to start it and it just refused to start.soneone said it seemed like maybe it wasn't getting any spark so I went ahead and changed the plug and it did nothing. I'm not mechanically inclined by any means so please bare with me. I use the electric start and it just keeps trying to start but just isnt! I dont think the fuel is the problem and my uncle who works on motorcycles says he doeant either. He said maybe check online see if anyone could point me in the right direction because I have no idea what I'm doing lol.i hold the electric start and it just won't start it sounds like it wants to but it wont. Any thing anyone can tell me to do or where to look?

49cc Yamaha vino not sure what year . . not mechanically inclined . . have no idea what I'm doing So yet ANOTHER exercise in futility! Apparently doesn't even know the difference between a 2 and 4-stroke engine . . and lacks initiative to reference a service manual!

An easy thing to check is to find out if it has spark. Here's a basic guide with links to a more detailed guide that may be of use : www.49ccscoot.com/faq/wontstart.htmlIf you know if it's a two-stroke or four-stroke, I can move this thread to another section. Don't you have any paperwork wit the scooter to tell the year? Check the VIN? If it's a two-stroke, you may see "5BM" stamped on the very rear of the engine, beside the wheel basically.

And i am told it's a 4 stroke. This scooter was my mother's who recently passed unexpectedly April 24th of this year.she bought it and either I think lost any papers relating to it.its always been a good running scooter never had any problems up until now besides the tires for her.im hoping I figure it out because it's all I really have left of her and it means alot.

When you hit the starter button does it sound like it's spinning fast or struggling to turn?

Is the plug wet or dry when you remove it? It could be that your engine maybe flooded fro tring to start it or you've lost some compression.
