Feel the hose going to the top of the radiator. Is it hot? If not you have something wrong. Could be an air lock, unlikely unless you have replaced the fluid recently. Or possibly the drive for the pump. Sometimes just crud built up on the radiator is enough to stop the air flowing through. Do you have a fan? Is it working?

It could be a false alarm also. I'd be checking the hose temps with fingers or a 'non-contact' sensor. Hot would flow out of the cylinder head towards the radiator, helpd along by the pump. If it's held hostage by the thermostat sticking closed, the outflow will not be hot. If you want to make a mess, and check if the stat is stuck, remove it and close the system back up. It won't get warmed up as quick, but you should not see overheating. The old 'rules' for overheating was "If it gets hot in city traffic, the pump is likely, but if it gets hot while traveling at highway speed, it's the radiator." tom

Hi thanks for all your reply.what i did today is i check the radiator and the reserv tank for air then i fill up with coolant.then i go for couple of miles to see if thats the cause if overheating.then reservoir cap just pop up with the coolant while running.then i turn off the ignition to check.when i turn it on it wont start anymore.i open the radiator cap and start it,i notice that it has more air pressure than normal.what could be the problem of this scooter.sorry for my bad english...any help pls, thanks.

Could be a head gasket since it's pressurizing the cooling system and sounds like it's trying to push coolant/pressure out of the reservoir. I'm guessing it may be out of warranty already, but if not this would be a good time to take it to a dealer... preferably towed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zpNjYmmiYY

Thanks again for your reply sir.

No, Yamaha won't help you there. In fact, if you have any warranty left they will most likely void it upon seeing that sort of modification. I don't know about the BBKs for the SMAX. If everything fits, you could use a stock replacement. I wouldn't reuse the old one.

Yamaha SMAX XC 155 scooter (2015-2018) recall Information: potential symptoms: overheating, erratic idling - "Yamaha explains in its report that on some scooters, the cylinder head nuts might have not been properly tightened. Should the nuts come loose, the cylinder head could loosen up and the gasket used to seal the cylinder could fail. If it does, then there’s an increased risk that coolant could seep into the cylinder at low speed and potentially wet the spark plug in which case, the engine could stall and fail to restart. The manufacturer adds that for owners, there are a few sings to watch for should the problem present itself. The temperature warning signal could light up, idling could sound irregular, and the engine could misfire at idle. Recall number 990137 is set to begin on May 29, 2020. Yamaha will notify owners between May 29 and June 2 and invite them to make an appointment with their Yamaha dealer where the gasket will be changed and the nuts will be tightened to standard, free of charge. The manufacturer confirms that the original nuts meet their standards and that the problem is due to a production line mishap so there is no need for new parts. Should they have any questions or concerns, SMAX owners are welcome to contact the Yamaha customer service" LINK: www.rideapart.com/articles/425611/recall-2015-2018-yamaha-smax-xc155/

I am having a issue with my yamaha after switching out framew. Mine was bent. Anyhow runs hot and the hoses are cold. Gets hot at idle at the exhaust and I can feel it at top of motor where rocker would be . No tenp light . Unsure of I have a hose error. I can day that my plastic overfill bottle has a missing lid. Aldo foes the top hose drying and and bottom hose goes to radiator?
