So i got a new set of polini carbon reeds that I decided Im gonna put in my reed block to try out. I havent messed with a reed block ever yet, so Im gonna take this opportunity to learn something else about my scooter. They are brand new and when I opened the package one was green the other was blue. I know they are different thicknesses. And I cant remember for the life of me where I read about which one faces a certain way versus the other facing the other way having to do with the way a 2t pulses.
At first I thought they screwed up packing them, but I read they do that on purpose.
Can anyone tell me how to correctly position these reeds within my reed block?

Polini recommends using a .35 on the engine side and a .30 on the intake side of the reed cage. In fact that's how they sell their replacement reed sets for the Zuma 50. They say it helps with the pulse of the engine keeping the engine side from fluttering as 2t said, and improves throttle response.

Yes! Thats exactly the paragraph I read.. where was that by the way?
And is there any advise that I can put to use while i got my reed cage out? Like any modifications I can do to further help acceleration and throttle response? I'd like to fabricate a spacer somehow. Like the spacers for auto throttle bodies.. Ive never used one but supposedly they can pick up acceleration and even promote better fuel mileage.

Ok, I think this is a legitimate question to ask. The paragraph above tells me to install the .35 reed on the engine side and the .30 reed on the intake side. Im looking at the reeds as being front or back. The front being toward the cylinder and the rear one facing the cases. So do I put the thicker one toward the cylinder(front) or toward the cases(rear) ?
I think finally inspecting and replacing my reeds are going to help me quite a bit. Here's why- when I took the intake off I noticed there was a little oil past the o-ring;indicating I probably had a slight air leak there.
Second thing I noticed was one of my reeds was not sealing against the reed block and holding it up to a lamp, plenty of light passed thru the gap. Like it was bent the other way or installed backwards.
So i think she might run like a champ once I figure out which reed goes where.
