Just found a kymco super 9 for cheap (around $200). I believe it's even the liquid cooled version. I asked the guy and he didn't know, but it does have dual disc brakes.
Currently not running. Posting says needs battery/spark plug, but who knows.
Any reason not to buy it?

What I mean is, a stock liquid cooled minarelli clone with no OEM restrictions seems pretty desirable.

What I mean is, a stock liquid cooled minarelli clone with no OEM restrictions seems pretty desirable. It's not a minarelli clone just so you know. The engine is a KYMCO design based off of Honda AF architecture. Minarelli stuff won't fit. I'd buy a non-running S9/LC for 200 bucks in a heartbeat. Matt

What I read at this site posted below says the LC version was a minarelli clone. But of course I have no idea personally. I'd trust what you say. www.motorscooterguide.net/Kymco/Super-9/Super-9.htmlSo then the engine is similar to the zx50 I have? Thatd be nice.

Super 9 is a horizontal cylinder engine similar to a Minarelli, but thats about it..Have seen folks splice a Mina LC cylinder on them, but it requires work..Very nice quality scoot,$200 is cheap!

Bought it this morning! It didn't come with an airbox. Any suggestions on where to get one?
I'm thinking the guy who owned it didn't really know what he was doing. Pretty sure there's an inner tube inside the front wheel...no valve stem on the rear. Odometer reads 11,5000. Tail light cover is missing. (This would be another part I'll need to find) Some cracks and two chunks missing from body panels. Battery dead but seems to be charging fine.
Green wire is cut underneath the CDI - I'm guessing that's the rev limiter destriction. Throttle sticks, I think the oil pump tied in needs lubrication.
Might have time to actually look it over tomorrow. Just figured I'd share!

The Super 9 water cooled model is a SH10DA the Air cooled version is a SF10DA Dio style since Kymco partnered with Honda as a engine manufacture just like SYM,PGO etc .... And yes that green wire was the destruction wire if it has the boss with no shoulder it was totally derestricted it should run a easy 50 plus mph all day long . Good buy for 200 bucks

Took a little time to look at it today. It appears that at some point someone put screw in studs into both tires. I'm guessing tubeless would no longer work on it then. Maybe the guy did know what he was doing and just totally beat it up/used it like a dirtbike (which i guess would be fun). so needs new tires or I can try to put tubes in there. Is that correct?
With some carb cleaner i did get it to start up. It redlined within 2 seconds on the stand, 9000+ RPM with huge clouds of smoke so i killed it. The throttle sticks so figured i should fix that before i actually mess with that - dont want it to run away...
turn signal knob is broken off so i'll have to find a fix for that. The rear piece that holds the license plate and license plate light is gone. That coupled with the broken tail lens cover makes me think somebody did some wheelies. For my purposes I'm going to hope the CVT isn't tuned exclusively for wheelies...

Good find. Ebay and an OEM parts person will be your friend. Have fun with your new scoot. Get it back to original then play.

The motor (I've heard) is some kind of liquid cooled morini motor. HOWEVER I have some ultra rare double-dog-dare-ya super secret Honda Tuning tech for you. Peugeot cylinders will fit the Honda platform. Same bolt spacing and stroke. I'm sure some kajigering is required to get it to work just right but it will work. Even better news, the Hot 50 model of Peugot has a lot of aftermarket support and is LC from the factory.
See what im sayin'?
You could do some surgery and get this baby RIPPIN on 70ccs with that rear disk brake!
I bet the rest of the motor is standard Mina stuff.

The speedy 1 & 2 used to have massive aftermarket support, but not so much now. An MHR rep cylinder is still available though.
