a very very very unique problem was discovered with my scooter today while tuning my carb while it was getting dark. there were sparks jumping to my screw driver when i got close to the idle adjustment screw. i thought i was close to my plug wire and double checked and i wasnt. it only happens when the scooter is running. so i proceeded to take my scooter apart and check all the wiring and everything is fine. what the heck? :stars: :stars: :stars:

That sounds dangerous, but not in a good way. lol The only thing in the carb that should get power would be the enricher, so I'd start by checking that out or replacing it. I'd think it would have to be that. The intakes on these are usually rubber so that's not gonna carry even a ground from the engine.

Have you done any swapping in the electrics department? You could have reversed polarity to your spark plug. Under this condition the underside of the ground electrode at the spark gap erodes (dishes) away. p. 189; Two-Stroke Performance Tuning;2nd ed.; A. Graham Bell.

i thought it was the enricher also, but the same current is being carried to the handle bars (which was shorting out my radio) so im thinking that whatever it was, was travelling through the throttle cable. the bike was caught in a flood and was 70%, but i dont know how that would create a short. and also to answer the other question, never replaced anything in the electrical

The brake interlock switch will. A bad ground will do that too. Had one that we forgot to ground and it ended up grounding itself right through the brake lever into my uncles sweaty palms and shocking him every time he hit the brakes. Oh man! That was a riot! Man, i miss having him around.

ah yes, the good ol bad ground. i have a suspicion that there may be a bad ground. all that water could of made things start to rust.

Only high voltage would arc like that. 12-15v.... no spark/corona.

Only high voltage would arc like that. 12-15v.... no spark/corona. Perhaps the 60v or so from the stator would be enough, I expect so. Doesn't explain how it comes to be going though the frame though.
