I picked up this used SYM dd50 engine a few months ago
I also picked up this pipe a few days ago.
I went to Glenn's and asked the mechanic what kind of set up he would build. he recommended a Polini Corsa ministroker. they didn't have those parts in stock at the moment so I just picked up an intake manifold. the CT black was recommended along with a set of Boyesen reeds.
the black intake manifold kit came with 2 sets of reeds. the double reeds were installed from the factory.
this is the Boyesen reeds installed into the CT reed block.
CT manifold taken apart.
planning on running the CT intake with a 28mm OKO and a velocity stack. typical Hawaiian style
wanted to see what the intake, carb, and stack would look like on the engine.
looking for opinions, input, suggestions on what bore and stroke. im also thinking about running one of those 50mm PG aluminum bore on e-bay as another option. maybe even a ported Malossi Sport cast cylinder. another thought I had was running a 52mm bore with a 52mm crank, but I don't know if I want to delve into cutting the case.

Hmm okay.
Don´t do any case mods, go with a good cast iron cylinder like a Naraku or Polini 75cc cylnder. Best choice.
I do have one (Sym Flash, licensed Honda Dio) wih the same engine. I just modified some stock components and its doin 80kph with the stock cylinder. Just ported the exhaust port a bit. Even stock pipe. And best part about that is, that the engine will last.

I have an arrow pipe for my setup but one of the springs broke and it was leaking like crazy. So I put the pg short back on and it runs better imo so I'm in no rush to put the arrow back in service. I'm running a corsa, stock crank, Naraku intake, oko 24 with an uni pod filter, Polini variator, Dr pulley hit clutch (107mm), and 8.4:1 gearing. It rips and has been as reliable as the sun.

Birdman, with the 8.4:1 gears, what is your max speed? as far as the Arrow pipe, it popped up on craigslist for $300 brand new in box, so I had to jump on it. that's the only reason I bought it. other than that, pretty much all the moped shops here on Oahu sell the PG short and PG long. aside from the YMS V8, the PG's are common throughout the land. thanks for sharing your setup and input. I appreciate it.

I appreciate it. Full tuck, fresh cvt springs belt and weights, tires pumped I hit 71mph. Usual Conditions 68mph full tuck. I never GPS it untucked but I would guess 65 or so.

I heard that sef ramp plate/ keli vari is a killer set up. I would've tried it but could never find the ever elusive sef ramp plate.

well faak me, im 240lbs. nah, i'll figure it out. it's going on a Chinese 4 stroke anyways. sleeper to go bash on them Corsa's and Strokers of the Honda realm here in Honolulu. if that don't do it, im going to build a 52 x 52 watercooled stroker. I always wondered about the Hondas here on Oahu, they are fast. im a minarelli guy, but the Honda stuff is 1/2 the cost of minarelli stuff here. I just wanted to see what this "Fast" Honda stuff was about.

if you really like sample one, send me your address, I'll go to QwikFix Garage and get you one of them. the price tag on the one I bought is $16, but the invoice doesn't show it. the owner of QwikFix threw in the SEF ramp plate, ramp guides, and a sparkplug for free. He charged me for a MHR rep bore kit, Taiwan crank/bearing/seals, and a wristpin bearing.
the KELI variator was from 808Cycles for $20.
if you like sample it (try it out), PM me your address. i'll go get you that set up and mail it to you. i'm just getting started with this Honda stuff. if you been in it for a while, even better for me. anything else you might want from the Hawaii moped realm (that can fit in a flat rate box), if not ill put it in a padded envelope? I am planning on going to Glenn's Cycle Supply this weekend to look for the "SEF 2" ramp plate. moped shops here on Oahu get all kine stuff for Honda based mopeds. just spit out what ever you may be looking for, we might have it here in Honolulu.
