Thankyou for the kind words! The paint job really did come out nice but I can't take credit for that, the guys at the body shop really came through. aeroxbud lower bars are on my list and would really compliment the bike. That'll come later though. First things first, I need to get this thing ripping like it should. I had a little time to do some tuning today, I started with a 110 main and it was so rich it barely ran, it was choking on feul. Now I'm at a 103 and it still is rich but I ran into a hump, and I'm dealing with fuel delivery issues. The petcock is clogged in the on position and somewhat flows in the on position, I'd be pissing in the wind trying to jet in these conditions... So a new oem valve is on the way and then the carb tuning will continue.

A couple more tidbits while I wait on the petcock valve. New oem cap. The rusted out original was just begging to be relieved of duty. New horn, the original didn't work.

This thing landed today. I'm new to aluminum cylinders, what Temps should I be afraid of on this thing?

The petcock is on, works great and doesn't leak. I had some time today in between rain showers to do some carb tuning and now I'm all the way down to a 95 main and the bike is waking up!! I guess this thing just isn't as thirsty as I thought it would be. With the 95 main I held it wide open for about 1.5 miles and Temps peaked at 310 (55 degree day today) , I think I have a little more room to go leaner and extract more performance, but I don't want to push it with this aluminum cylinder, I'm not too sure what seize territory is on this thing. I'm getting closer now, no top speed reading yet I'll wait for a clearer day for that, but this thing pulls pretty decent. A new front caliper is here too so that'll be next because this old one intermittently sticks. Any input on Temps would be great from those experienced with the aluminum cylinders.

Bump Anyone? Any advice on Temps? From what people have said on 2t Vespa above the low 300's. I won't say the figure I am thinking of incase I am completely wrong.

From my findings on the Rd power plant seems plug temp is plug temp. It’s all the same if it’s fan forced air cooled or draft AC. Keep under 350 and you should be safe. Just keep an eye on part throttle temperatures.

Just keep an eye on part throttle temperatures. It's draft ac and part throttle Temps are in the 280 range, and wot it's peaked as high at 320 after a mile straight of wot. A guy on Facebook who's into mb5s says 350 is good but once you start seeing 380 it's time to upjet.. I think I'm good for now. Thanks for the help!

Neat, I traded a bike for one of these the other day. I kinda wanna do it up in 82 honda race livery and put a bunch of random parts on it to make it quick/useless.

Glad you are finding time to ride it. People need to see bikes like these.

Love how clean this bike came out!! Any idea if the 6 speed conversion is the same for the H100 engine? I just picked up your bikes big brother as well as an H100S and they are both Japanese market 4 speeds

Hi I’m looking at a similar bike with a similar “no spark” issue. Would you be able to point me in the right direction? You can email me at

Been ages since i saw an MB-5, they were quite a desirable bike if you were 16 yrs old in the 1980s.
They werent as easy to derestrict as some other 50cc bikes though.
I briefly owned an MT-5 which used exactly the same engine as the MB-5.
