i bought a used scooter that has 600 km. it started out alright two weeks ago but now it looses power at full speed but if u let off the throttle it slowly dies. i tried to clean the carb but it is riveted together and u cant take the bowl apart. i sprayed carb cleaner into the air intake to see if it might helpl. i let it run for about 20 min and took off. no problems. let it set for almost an hr and take off no problems for about 1.5 min. then it lost power till i hit a hill. it dies and wont start. kick started it and took off fine till i got home about 3 mins. put on stand and ran fine. help me I know nuthin about scooters. thank you

is there anything special about scooter carbs? or can i just ebay search 49cc carb. my new gas cap also came in today i think it might have something to do with it seeing how i have had aluminum foil covering the hole. i got alot of power back when the cap was put on i know it shouldnt have nothing to do with it but maybe its a pressure thing for the fuel pump

Im also thinking about do a kit on this thing. ive been reading other post and not sure if its a good idea. if i go 80cc i will have to change the crankshaft and maybe carb. if i go 72 i am in the clear. but how much faster will the 72 cc actually go. is it worth the money or is it an all in or dont do it at all deal.

You need the right kind of carb for your motor. There are a lot of different carbs for 49cc scooters. I assume yours in a GY6 50 / 139QMB, so you'd want something like this... cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/50CC-SCOOTER-MOPED-GY6-CARBURETOR-CARB-SUNL-ROKETA-JCL-/280727077106?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item415ca340f2I know nothing about the seller etc... that's just the cheapest result that came up when I searched for Buy It Now items. If you were sealing the gas cap well enough it could have been hurting performance. Fuel systems are usually vented through the cap. Forget the 80cc unless you need to squeeze out every last MPH and aren't concerned if your engine lasts a long time. The 47mm bore kits seem to put less stress on the rest of the engine and last longer. There's a difference in performance, but not nearly enough to be worth the wear and tear you might see with the 50mm+ kits. The difference in performance from 50cc to 70cc is well worth doing the kit.

thanx alot. so out of all of the bbk u would say 47mm would b the best. now would that make it to where i dont have to modify anything else? how fast would that get me movin? see i live 13 miles from work and well lost my license for a couple years so the motor needs to last but i also dont want to drive on a highway at 30mph. how long would this project take to build approximately.

You'll need to tune the carb and maybe swap roller weights. There are more details of what's involved here... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=4ttech&action=display&thread=350Since you depend on it, I'd suggest giving yourself a day to do the BBK. If you get a couple of days off in a row, even better. The install won't take that long, but you should have plenty of time to get it tuned that way and ready for work. Before you start, go over the link above and make sure you're comfortable with everything there and have all the tools and supplies you need/want. You should be capable of somewhere between 40-50MPH with it in tune.
