I'm trying to figure out why my 2001 Zuma is pumping so much oil. I have the fan shroud off and looking at the oil pump there is no adjustment. I have un burnt oil coming out of the exhaust pipe. Anyone have suggestions as to what I can do to limit the oil supply?
Thanks

Does it have normal smoke when running but excessive or more then normal at startup? If so it’s probably a bad check valve letting some oil the gravity feed into the engine when it’s off.

Hmmm. And where is this check valve located?

Fitz, most of us have deleted the oil pump and run premix, any adjustment must be in the pump itself, just a thought you should have a large dia feed pipe to pump and a much thinner 3mm od feed to carb ,I have seen the 3mm replaced with much larger tubing by mistake, please answer any questions Ryan or others ask so we can help you.

Check valve on the bug eye is on the carb where the oil hose connects it is just a small roller bearing and spring . The spring is probably shot . If you have the stock 14mm dellorto it is undersized for any future mods so this could be that perfect excuse to upgrade to a 17.5 dellorto or 19 mm dellorto .
At least that is what I always tell my wife .

I'm not familiar with the brand. Doesn't it have a cable adjustment with some kind of corresponding calibration mark on the pump control arm?
Again I don't know this brand. Some oil pumps have a seal of some sort on the pump drive between the pump and the engine.

Looking at a parts diagram for your Zuma I didn’t see the check valve either it’s in the fuel inlet of the carb or part of the oil pump. Premix is the easy solution with no parts purchase required.
The Zuma oil pumps don’t have the adjustable cam like the clones do. No cables, flow is dependent on RPM.

Does the Dellorto PHBG 19mm carb have a check ball where the oil line connects to it?
