......Yeah, it feels like the carb is my issue for the dead spot in the mid-throttle circuit. I’m not super concerned about that though. I may or may not be able to work that out........... Do yourself a favor and get your carb worked out. When you live with a rich or lean spot, it requires the carb to deal with it, trying to recover from the rich or lean condition as it progresses. The combustion temp varies wildly, and nothing is happy

I'll keep messing with it. From what I remember the flat spot wasn't there with the Yasuni R, only exists with the C16. I've messed with the needle and tried the only other size needle Polini makes. I do have a leaner slide I haven't tried yet though.

Silly question but when I gap s single ring piston ring, the gap is the same as I would set a double ring setup for, correct?

Any ideas? Checked my compression and I still have 130psi, which is the same reading I got when I first assembled. youtu.be/Cl7QT5n6imA

Found a variator shim that was mushroomed out and removed it. Still making the noise though. It revs fine and sounds good at a higher rpm. youtu.be/CHsLyQRjSAU

Never mind, fixed it. There was the tiniest amount of play in the front half of my CVT.

So I had a great summer's worth of rides on the Zuma and put around ~2k (not exactly sure how many because I didn't have a working speedo for at least 1/3 of them) miles on the engine. There were several rides with 30+ people and at least one with 60+ riders.
My bike performed well and I had no serious issues, aside from things coming loose and a still undetermined ignition issue where I lose spark once in a great while. I do think my crank is out of true though. I plan to check with a dial indicator over the winter, but because of the vibration I feel and the amount of things that constantly come loose, I'm pretty sure it's out of true.
As of right now, I have an MHR 85mm crank and spacer I was planning on using with my Athena cylinder as part of my winter "refresh". However, the Athena 80cc cylinder and crank that Scootertuning.ca sells has caught my eye and I think I'm going to go with that instead. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Nice you put some miles on it :)if you have bad vibes I would be checking bearings and bushings balancing etc all over the scoot,it,s getting on a little and that rubber ages.

I was wondering where this project sat. good to hear it got some use. It got its use over the summer I'd say, but I think I can make it even better and more fun over this season. As long as I can get the 80cc kit tuned nearly as well as I had the 70cc kit tuned, next summer should be even more fun.

While I'm thinking about it... the Athena crank I'm going to be using is a 43mm crank, so I'll have to make room in the cases for it. Aside from using a machinist's shop, which will cost more than I'd like to spend, is there any other way to open the crank cavity outside of a wire wheel and a drill?
Also, how much clearance do I need around the crank?
