Hi All, I posted a few weeks back to try and get help pulling off the flywheel of my TGB R50X / Bullet. Anyway thanks to your help I got the flywheel off and have fitted a new stator. However I am still not getting spark even with the new stator which is frustrating as I was 99.9% sure the problem was the stator! I'm at a bit of a loss as what to do next. So far I have Replaced Battery with new one Replaced Spark plug with new one Replaced Stator with new one Tested ignition coil - I get <1 ohm resistance between primary and ground, and 11k ohms between end of connector and ground. It's still got the original CDI - should I replace this next? Any other ideas are most welcome !? Pics for reference (Red dust everywhere is because i live in a mining town)

I would try the original CDI just to be sure. If that's not it then try these tests. What voltage are you getting from the pick up? Are the magnets on the flywheel weak? Test it by hanging a 19mm wrench from all of the magnets. You can measure it at the wire going to the coil. My experience with the R50X is that they made 2 different stator and flywheels and that they need to both be the correct one for your year. When mine didn't match I had the opposite, I had spark but no lights. When I got the correct flywheel I had both.

They had a bad cdi from the factory it was revised in 2007 most likely the cdi is the issue naruko makes one for the tgb pretty decent quality

hey all, thanks for the tips. I managed to get a hold of the service manual and I started checking that the coil and stator were in spec with the manual. Here are the results: HT Coil spark plug tip to ground Spec: " 8KΩ±10﹪" Actual: 11KΩ Stator high voltage circuit to ground Spec: 224Ω±20﹪ Actual: 295Ω Would both of these be considered in spec? or just the stator and the coil is not? Do you guys think it needs a new ignition coil, a new CDI, or something else? It has some specs for the CDI, I should really test that next but I haven't had a chance to yet.

Thanks, I followed that. i don't have feeler gauges but it certainly looks like it's spec. BTW: that's really an awesome guide. Props to Brent.

Should I just get one from eBay? The local dealer that sold me the stator me confirmed that it's the right stator for the flywheel I have.

Have you tried spinning the engine over and checking output voltage of the pickup and source coil?TGB stators are either 6 pole or 4 pole and will not interchange without flywheel replacement..If all checks well a replacement or known good CDI box will be the next step,,good luck!
