Woke up to my 2 month old scooter stolen. Any pointers for me? I assume I will never see it again but perhaps will get lucky. Already filed a police report. Can I put in an insurance claim for this with homeowners insurance as a property loss?

watch craigslist in your area to see it it pops up there (assuming you live in a reasonably sized city)

Also put a bulletin out on Craig's list with a pic of your scooter. And maybe some kind of reward. Post it under Motor cycles and scooters. Sorry man.

Sorry to hear it. I don't have any advice for getting it back, sorry. Might wanna make sure you use the steering lock, get a good cable lock or disc brake lock or something if you get it back or for your next scoot.

If I leave my scooter somewhere out of the garage such as at a business I hide my cell phone in the floor compartment where the fuse is (on a geely 50 it is good size compartment) and if it comes up missing we just track the cell phone..... they'll never know it is even in there. Most don't even know it is a compartment.

Thanks for the tips all. Unfortunately some of the blame lies on me im sure. It was parked in front of our house (no garage) in front of my car on the center stand with the steering lock engaged. Whoever took it must have just lifted it up onto the back of a truck with a couple guys or broke the steering lock somehow.
Sucks big time. Will try and put it on craigslist and see what happens. Thanks for the support and pointers.

Sorry your scoot got snaked dude. If one of my scooters got stolen I would be in a state of rage for a day or two at least. Then I'd set a trap for them. A little bait strategically placed and me hiding in the shadows with a baseball bat.

myrtle beach has had it bad with scooter and motorcycle theft this past year. I gotta say it must take brass balls or a lot of stupidity to walk up to a m.c., lift it in the bed of a truck and drive off. Im glad mine is garage kept.
I know theres a few people setting traps at night around here when they dont work the next day, so its only a matter of time.
To try and get it back, ask around and see if someone was up late, and noticed a suspicious crowd hanging around, or knock on peoples doors. Call the local impound yards for the hell of it. Ya never kno..it coulda been mistakenly towed.
Post wanted ads for motorcycle or moped parts in the surrounding counties. Say u need a cheap frame for a project. Offer to pick up and pay in cash.
Kids steal em and ghost ride em into the river when there done, so drag the water by you with a big magnet from harbor freight.
If you try hard enough, you can find it. report it stolen and make sure you give em the vin number.
I dont know, man. Im just tryin to help. . .
The best thing i can think of right now is to call the scrap metal places by you and give them the vin to it and an extremely detailed description of what they should look for. They just passed a law where its gonna be mandatory to require a permit to sell scrap in SC. Its free now, but I think next year the state is gonna start it. Im sure the scrap yards will work with you, cuz they get stolen stuff all the time and they're trying to put a stop to it.
Karma will get the thieving bastards. They think they needed your bike more than you did, so they got something coming back in a worse way.

Yes check the scrap yards. I had a boat stolen, the scrap yard simply made sure to smash the front real good so it was rendered useless to anyone but them. The cops said, scrap guy claims it was ok with me so...blah blah blah, there was nothing to do but warn them off the property. We had a metal bridge made from an old mill catwalk, stolen off our hunting land. It's not the kids anymore.
