Hey y'all. I've been messing around with the Kymco Agility mopeds I got cheap and figured I'd put an update here. This is to the one in better shape and with fewer miles on it (7300km - i think thats km anyway).
Things I did to this one:
- I took apart the CVT and cleaned it, and put it back together. It wouldn't kick when I first got it because of being dirty and sitting for however long(It had the derestricted drive boss in it and the CDI is cut).
- Cleaned the air filter.
- Took apart and clean the carb. Replaced the needle float.
- Checked valves. One was too tight so adjusted it. Adjusted the other one too just for movement sake.
- Took apart the front brake and cleaned it (it was stuck on).
- Took speedo cable and hub from other moped and installed on this one. (this one had a snapped cable)
- Hotwired it.
- Put one of my good batteries in it.
- Tried to start it...and again...and again...it would idle for 3 seconds one time and then not start again.
- Cleaned the carb
- Cleaned fuel lines and fuel filter.
- Tried to start it (same thing)
- Boiled the carb float bowl.
- Put a functional starter motor on it from a different junk moped.
- Tried to start it. (same thing)
- Checked the vacuum lines. There was a leak by the T junction. Mostly just fiddled with it a bit and it sealed for now.
- Tried to start it. (was clearly trying to idle better)
- Then I put my hand over the airbox, blocking it entirely, and it started. Messed around a bit with letting in a certain amount of air and got it started and idling. Throttled it, set the idle speed. Let it run for 10 minutes.
- Changed the oil.
- Seems to be working!
I need to figure out whether the front headlight and taillight running bulbs are bad (lo beam, high beam/active brake work) or if it's some wiring issue. I have a new ignition/keyset on the way and I'll see if that works out (it's just a generic gy6 one, hoping it functions even if it isn't a correct aesthetic fit).
