Hi all!! New to this sight, hoping to learn & possibly even share info w all. So here we go... I have a TGB R5 that's been fitted w a 70cc bbk, MRP exhaust, bigger carb (specs & main jet unknown), and a polini cone filter w plastic cover w slots to let air in... I purchased the bike after it had been fitted w the kit. I rode w w/o probs, never @ WOT bc I was told it wasn't broken in yet. After putting some miles i began running her harder & harder, it was then that I realized on my cvt cover that oil Had leaked all over it. I began an inspection & upon removing the cover to the air filter, I saw the cone had been taped up with plastic tape restricting alot of air from entering the motor. I removed the tape & took it for a run & it was apparent off the back that it wasn't getting enough gas @ WOT. I recently ordered a bigger jet (115, think I went wayyy to big) but I havn't added it bc I'm also waiting for a new air-box type filter for some noise reduction. Soooooo my qu is, can the reason way my bike is always leaking oil out the carb bc the jets not big enough & there's not enough gas to meet oil ratio when I go WOT?? Any & all info will be greatly appreciated, looking 4ward to getting in the mix w this forum!!! Attachments:

That seems pretty strange.. like " Cmon oil, your going the wrong way!!!" I would put a stock air box on it cuz they offer more vacuum than a open air filter, makes tuning easier, and yes, a lot less noise. My educated guess is that theres not enough vacuum?? to pull the heavy oil the right way and it just goes toward your air filter cuz the carbs at a bad angle?..
I get a lil oil residue in the neck of my air box from time to time. I wouldnt call it a leak tho. Always thought it was normal.

Could be that little one way valve in the carb? The lil brass one the oil line plugs into. If it is stuck, oil could be leaking into the carb and outside onto the scooter and ground when it sits?. We had another member with the same problem and it ended up being that.

I may actually have a similar problem. In fact, I would bet that I do. I really need a carb for my scoot. I'm gonna pay Scrappy a visit shortly and get one of those replacements.

I'll keep ya posted after the instalation of both, that's the filter I'm waiting on
