Despite our best efforts to isolate her, the wife and I who were both vaccinated in April started having symptoms Saturday evening. Tested Sunday morning, results came in this evening positive. So far only mild symptoms for wife and I hopefully stays mild the whole time.
I got the J&J one shot back in March. I also got COVID this past week. mild symptoms but really throwing off the work/family/school stuff. The muted sense of taste thing is weird.

Sending my best wishes to all of you Scott.
My 2nd Moderna vaccine was at the end of April, but I'm already paranoid about this stuff again. A friend just had his youngest son get sick with a cough and fever that thankfully didn't turn out to be COVID, but I told him I'm not coming over for a couple of weeks at least. I live with my parents that are both in their 70s so they don't go out much. I do squat as far as going out. The greatest risk that I take is my friend's family because he works in every office in the area pretty much for his job and his wife works in a pharmacy and he's got 1 in pre-school/daycare and another in elementary school and after school care. They go on vacations, meals out, shopping, etc... I started doing grocery pickup before COVID so I've barely been in anywhere. I don't normally go much of anywhere, but in the last 2 years I can count on I believe 1 hand how many occasions I've been in an office or store. The vast difference there has me thinking about backing off of visits at all. Not that I wanna quit hanging out or damaging our hearing with guitars, but it doesn't make much practical sense. The majority of colds and such that I've had in recent years have been after a visit there. Hate to make it sound like some sort of diseased household, because they're cleanly and get vaccines and so on... but our households are on 2 totally different potential exposure levels. I never dreamed that anything would turn me into more of a recluse than "normal".

I'm in a job where I spend time around a lot of strangers. Though we have a masking policy and require the cast crew and audiences to show proof of vaccine or negative tests it's just a false sense of security. Events are cancelling so my exposure risk is being a little reduced.
Old Geek stay safe and I hope your daughter recovers soon.

It has been shown that even the vaccinated get sick occasionally after exposure but it does seem to cut down on severity. The vaccines are not 100%. The safest thing would be to get EVERYONE vaccinated that absolutely can be but we have morons that refuse to help keep the public healthy. Schools have always been cesspools of disease. We even have government officials that are covidiot morons like Abbot, DeathSantis, and many others. When this pandemic slows down those government officials should be prosecuted for murder. It is absolutely insane not to get vaccinated, wear masks, and wash frequently. Do what we can to minimize exposure and hazards. Some of us can minimize exposure and wear masks but many people get exposed because of their jobs. We damn near eliminated the flu and colds last year with masks and washing hands etc. Masks and hand washing works despite what some idiots say. I fully intend to get a Covid booster, if offered, and a flu shot this year, as I have every year. I also wear a mask whenever I leave the property. I wear a mask when alone in the car, some may laugh, but I just try to make it a habit to wear one when I leave the house. I keep a supply of disposables in the house and car. The fabric masks don't work as well as the disposables. I don't have a supply of the N95 masks and I try to leave those for the medical people. I don't go out very often. I will wear a mask when riding my adult tricycle. I struggled through making some more wiring connections for the lights. Minimal progress but I try...

The new strains of the virus must be considerably more contagious. My job puts me at risk daily, and living in a tourism based economy adds to the overall risk considerably. I am thankful I was able to get vaccinated, it has likely kept me out of the hospital.
My sister in law who lives in upstate SC and is anti vax got COVID, along with the rest of her immediate family. She ended up in the hospital and hopefully can come home this week, with a oxygen tank in tow.
My wife is currently waiting for the call to go get the antibodies treatment. He doctor recommends that she should, due to her health conditions. I likely also qualify, but I am on the fence about doing so since my symptoms are mild so far.

Fingers crossed that your symptoms stay mild oldgeek.
The have announced today that the over 50's, and clinically vulnerable should get a booster this autumn. They are not doing the Astra vaccine which I had last time. Will have to have a think on what I do going forward.

My 11 y/o got the cvoid. I lied about her age and she got vaccinated, and she had the first shot for 1 month. That week we went so see my in-laws and they got a couple of break through cases. No one knew. In fact they took her to get her second shot. They didn’t even know. When she got back home, they took a test and were positive. So we took tests and my 11 y/o came up positive out of all of us.
She didn’t have any symptoms. Had to miss the first 2 weeks of school. Pretty sure her age and the first shot helped out there. The whole time no one else got it.
Everyone is all vaxed now, in fact my 15 y/o has had three shots due to an underlying condition.
Get the shots!

There is not much to 'think' on. We common people do not have the resources and education the CDC and health departments have. All we can do is follow their directions when we can.

We are all better now. My wife ended up getting the antibody infusion and got better quicker than I did. I signed up the day after she did for the infusion but they ran out before I could get it.
I just dont understand peoples rejection of these vaccines. Modern medicine has for the most part rid us of a few terrible diseases such as polio and measles. Who knows how many lives are extended by yearly flu shots? Yet so many are flat out refusing the COVID vaccine.

I received a letter this week, saying as I have a compromised immune system. I should get a third booster jab when they become available.

We won't be free of this Covid shit until everyone in the world is vaccinated and variants stop appearing...
Unfortunately we will have another plague start or break out soon.
