First day back at the hospital in two days. Our patient population is growing exponentially. We have capacity to house 1,000 patients and best case scenario, we will be surpassing that April 21st, worst case April 10th and by thousands at any rate. We are beginning to run out of PPE and equipment. We are already reusing N95 masks and staff is beginning to get infected. We’re talking about using a small arena as a step-down unit for people less sick.  |

Proboards has officially said no false info on Covid-19 will be tolerated : support.proboards.com/thread/661355/covid-19-global-health-emergencySo I guess I should say that two-stroke smoke, 14,000RPM and wheelies have not been proven to kill the virus. Unfortunately the stay at home order cut my research time way short. I took one last ride on the TMAX the day before the order took effect and was trying to see if riding fast would put enough heat into tires to burn away a virus, also speculating that the more I could scrape the center stand in turns the better I was keeping the tire surfaces safe. Tried passing Harleys and a Slingshot WOT to see if I could blow contagions off of them for their safety. Again, no conclusive results in such short time so I can't recommend any of these actions.  |

They sell N95 filter material in a roll you could fab a prefilter or several for that matter . Maybe you could make them last a complete shit if you change in intervals ? Just a thought trying to keep you safe man if i had some i would send you all of them .. Get a paint respirator 3m are still available still for 18 bucks just the half face version .Then maybe still get the cloth and make pre filters so you can change say 2 or three times a day |

Here in the UK our gov has brought in a furlough system for the next 3 months,basically my employer can send me home and pay me 80% of my salary and claim it back from the gov.it,s all new stuff but my wife is on the at risk register so last week I phoned in and put myself on paid holiday leave while this sh""t sorts its self out.I phoned HR today to extend my leave and asked to be furloughed,it is a large company listed on the stock exchange etc.,seems I am the first to ask??our NHS sent wifey a letter to self isolate ,seems HR arn,t sure and have asked for a copy of the letter,so I will take it in, in the morning I am hopeful ,but these gobs""ts in ivory towers working from home need a reality check,10years continuous employ never missed a day ect.rant over

I’d take it. At my work, they’ve given us a couple separate paid time off banks we can withdraw from, but we have to be sick, caring for someone sick, the children of someone sick, and a couple other kinda random inclusions, but none of them I qualify for really. I’m getting increasingly paranoid about going in to work. I called off the past couple days and have the weekend off. Catching this things is not worth any amount of money to me. I’m to the point where I might let them lay me off or fire me and I’ll collect unemployment until I graduate this fall. My pay over the next several months of going to work with this stuff day after day and having an extremely high chance of catching it, will be several thousand dollars (low thousands lol) and the consequences of catching this are likely lifelong... some may argue that I signed up for this when I agreed to work at a hospital in any capacity, but I have the right to fold my hand and change my mind too. It’s not worth it to me. I’m 34 years old, have had cancer, broken bones due to low calcium, and other random health stuff. Not the epitome of health (just bad genetics I suppose lol). I’m very active, exercise daily, and eat at least somewhat healthy and I’d like to be able to keep doing those things because they keep me truly happy. $10-$15k just isn’t worth losing that. |

Knows where you coming from Geoff. I have done 10yrs with our lot who live in the ivory tower in Aberystwyth and dictate to us monkeys at the bottom like we were faeces. But I am very lucky as I have a good boss who speaks her mind and made sure her staff are looked after as we all zero hours and have been since I been there even though I work full time and basically run the cycle training dept for them and like you never off ill. I was given a draft of my contract which guarantee me 30hrs minimum a month ie we don't get paid over school holidays and when we can't work in winter etc. But that was not implemented due to new corporate management restructuring that was 1 yr ago that was meant to come in. Like your my wife is at risk so my boss don't expect me to redeploy into care homes due to risks. Hope all works out for you and your family mate.

I got a letter from the hospital yesterday geoffh telling me not to leave the house for any reason. I notified my work, and sent them a copy of the letter. Telling them I will not be in for the next 12 weeks. Which only leaves one and a half weeks till the company's shut for good. Still not going to pay me anything! |

Aeroxbud,that sounds iffy to me,I,m no expert but I don't,t think I wiil get furlough and will have to back in when my hols are used up as my firm will carry on through this.Maybe you should seek guidance from the CAB
Kenho,I would get sick quick,early symptoms etc,all of our moneyed well heeled types have gone into hiding and encouraging our health workers to "stick at it" from the very safe sidelines.
