Hello, I am new to scooters and have been researching things for a few months. I start each day by looking at this site and really appreciate the amazing information available here.
I am looking at 50cc because I would like my teenage daughters to also get some experience without needing a motorcycle license.
This will be primarily for recreation and occasional work/school commutes three miles on bicycle-friendly 30mph roads.
Given my needs and budget, I have been going through the back and forth of new Chinese (bintelli sprint/Tao) vs used name brand scooters. I particularly like the looks of the Zuma.
So, I come to you today hoping to get some advice. I am about to go look at a 2014 Zuma. It only has 200 miles and appears physically in excellent condition.
Should I be concerned at the low miles for 6-year old scooter? Has it been sitting for four years with old gas and dry rotting tires? Can you recommend anything that I should look at or ask the seller? Anything good/bad I should know about the 2014 model year?
They are asking $1800 which is more than I wanted to spare, but if it truly is like new and trouble free I think it will be worth it. And, i can finally go from research to riding!
Thank you

I’ll just say that it’s not impossible to find one that old with so few miles, but not incredibly likely. It IS quite easy to swap out the gauges/odometer on these things. I may be pessimistic though because I’m pretty sure that’s what happened with my 08 Zuma.

welcome to the forum Its a zuma 4 stroke will run for years They are very high quality.
With that low of miles The tires should still have the rubber knobs on them . Fire it Up . Take it for a spin should run 40 mph . Test the brakes they should grab quick. See how it feels taking corners and accelerating out of corners. It should run very smoothly overall.
Keep in mind With 4 strokes they are extremely reliable and will run for 10's of thousands of miles You just have to be happy with performance as is they are very expensive to mod for gains . 500 bucks of quality italian parts Gets 5 mph on a 4 stroke and 10 mph plus on a 2 stroke.

With so low miles everything should be like new. There should be virtually no signs of wear on the brakes and tires. It would not be unheard of to find something with so low a miles. Scooters are not for everyone. Some are rode a few times then left in the garage unused. Should be a good buy. Good luck.
