Well the rust for now has been sorted and plans are afoot to rebuild the spaare engine I have had sitting around for a few years with a bigger barrel maybe 150 or 170 if they do the 170, some people have said 190 but one I dont want to overstress an old engine and 2 finance. So the welding is done ish. I am going to take it and get someone to grind it down for me and do where I have most likely missed in a months time. Today the windscreen arrived and fitted and I plan to look for a rust free frame or maybe even new in the future. This scooter with a larger cc will fit all my needs perfectly for touring, comfort and flickability around town and country lanes. I also plan to keep the Amey Winehouse theme on it.

Malossi has a solid 190cc kit for these. I believe they have the same crank as the 150cc so it should be able to handle it. Add the upgears and you'll be fine.

Well I decided on a 150cc build as less stress on an old engine. Picked myself up a rolling spares kit and doing up the spare engine I have had kicking about for the last few years. Got my 150 cylinder kit and belt and rollers. One thing I am short of is a decent manual which is not a Haynes one. Anyone knows of a good link which posts to the UK as want a paper one Thank you 😊

On the variator fixed plate I have a 2mm washer that sits between the bush and the inner edge of the fixed plate can I leave that out like on a lot people do on the GY6 engines or leave it in, is a sod to fix into place so if no harm done leaving it out I shall.

I believe you want to leave that in. I know on the 250 Quasar engines leaving that out causes the belt to rub on the case.

After a mad hectic day I managed to get the old barrel off and the new one on after removing the old spacers from the barrel that were rusted in. I removed the variator and noticed a bit of in and out movement on the crank, no up and down though,, not sure if this normal though.

That may happen may not though, they cal it patina now or some trendy word makes it worth more apparently 😊. I removed little stud at bottom of barrel on the cylinder block so the 150 barrel would fit need wait for a few parts so its all thrown neatly on the workmate with head bolted down and covered up for whenever I get round to it.
