I am working on a 2003 49cc Geely scooter. I bought 2 of them really cheap a while back and have them here on an island in Florida where the speed limit is 30 mph everywhere. Both of theses have less than 250 miles on them but are badly weathered. I have stripped the first one down to the frame and will do a bunch of repairs to get this thing looking decent and running. I have noticed the tail pipe is slightly under 12mm while the exhaust port is probably twice as big. On the air box the intake is also certainly smaller than the port and about the same size as the carb. I am probably more concerned about the tail pipe. Has anyone had a similar situation. Of course if I could make this thing go a little faster I would make a mod but am not really interested in hot rodding this scooter. Any help is appreciated and I do plan to post progress of this little project. :wheelie:

an aftermarket airfilter will help alot. like K&N, Uni or even an off brand one from ebay. aftermarket exhaust are expensive, selling for 200-300 bucks. My 83cc big bore motor runs 45-50 on stock exhaust. the most restrictive part on 139qmb motors is the airbox and underjetting, not exhaust. on an island where the limit is 30mph, i wouldnt do more than a free flow air filter, a larger main jet and possibly some lighter roller weights for a quicker low end.

I'd steer clear of an open air filter for the 2T. Way too loud. You could probably remove that little snorkel on the airbox to increase airflow. Here's another way to get the stock airbox working better, but be prepared to upjet with any airbox mod... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=carb&action=display&thread=2387Out of curiosity, I measured the outlets on 3 of my pipes that use a muffler rather than a true tuned pipe. The stock 49cc pipe is 13.5mm ID. The 2 aftermarket pipes for 90-100cc engines are 16.5mm. I've used the stock 49cc pipe on a 90cc with success, so I'm not sure that the diameter there is really a problem for your scoot. You could try to see if you could open it up a little with a drill bit or use a long drill bit and start opening it up inside maybe.
