Goals Upgrade shoot for 45 then 50 mph then 55 Plus . Who doesnt want more speed . I live in the country so every road near me runs 45mph plus I wanted to use the Sport Build so I can run the Stock Crank . Brought it Home 38-39 mph top Speed . Upgrade Plan Pipe /BBK /Variator /Gears/Carb This is a 2004 Zuma So the Stock Carb is adjustable and fully opens the throttle. The exhaust is Catalytic Converter Free . Its Biggest restriction is the 14.66 gears The 2008 Zumas Primary restriction are Carb needle is not adjustable and you have to dremel the throttle so it will open all the way . The Exhaust has a Cat and should just be junked . The gears still suck they are 13.3 Both Zumas have Unlimited CDI so that wont need to be changed out . The Yamaha Aerox has 12.2 gears stock with a 49cc engine so These will need to be upgraded I will target 11 to 1 once I have the power to push them .

Normally I throw a kit On First and either stop there or add a Leo Vince ZX expansion pipe A Couple Guys were talking on Zuma Forums about the Half Wave Street style pipes and How easy they were to set up with the CVT and the extra oomph they provided on take off and added top speed The Leo Vince Gp and Sp3 were the Go to pipes they became impossible to get ahold of in the states A couple Guys started running the Tecnigas and Wild lion and Liked the stealthy look . I came across this comparison for the Gp vs Leo Vince . After reading thsi and seeing the Dyno Chart I Bought In. www.pedparts.co.uk/blog/leo-vince-gp-exhaust-review-any-good

Swapped on the pipe . The Guys were right Iniatally I didnt change one spring or roller . Definetely extra oomph . I would call it like BBK kit strong but you notice it Sound is not much louder than stock. Broke 41-42 mph with just this. Within a week I had swapped on Polini Variator and Dialed it in . I did drop the weights about a half gram to 6 grams in the variator . Now I was hitting 42-44 mph . So pipe added 3 mph and variator added another 2 mph . I did not have it on the Zuma for Long it ended up on my wifes Vino so she had some oomph. As you can see it looks stealthy.

A few Cosmetic adds Yamaha C3 mirrors to replace the lollipop mirrors . a dual headlight kit so both lights are on low or high beam at the same time . While I was ordering from bike bandit picked up a set michelin boppers for the zuma tekei main jets 82 14T-14343-41-00 84 main jet 14T-14343-42-00 and a vino pilot jet 5BM-14353-23-00 The Stock 80 was lean The 82 and 84 had similar top speeds both had a smoke ring . The 82 with the vino pilot jet was just about perfect for the Wild Lion Kit in the summer but was a little Lean Late in the Year . I run My scoots down to anything over 40 degrees . On Snow mobiles we would adjust 5% for outside a 40 degree range . The 84 works better in the winter So I defaulted to the 84 for Safety Year Round . Tested the Needle for Best Throttle response Had to raise the needle one notch rich which means go down one clip .

I bought most of the malossi stuff from Scooterpartsco out of Arkansas currently. Good Prices on Malossi I had a Wish List for Pipe ,Gears ,clutch Scootertuning.ca has great sales for Black Friday and Boxing Day . So I Put a ton of stuff on Wishlist. My Go To pipe in the past was a Leo Vince Zx for a quality pipe that was Crank friendly . They are Hard to come by in the States . Referencing this Blog The Tecnigas Next R had similar power band and it was 100 bucks on a Black Friday Sale . www.pedparts.co.uk/blog/tecnigas-exhaustI also picked up a Malossi Delta Clutch with standard and Race weights and Athena Gears

In Spring I popped on a Malossi Sport BBK and broke it in with stcok pipe. I basically had the same top speed 45-46 Mph . Up may be a Mile over just the Pipe and variator combo but I got to the Top way quicker . Broke that In with the warm it up good the ride it like you stole it for 400 miles Swapped On the Next R and hit 48 Mph . For a 12 pack of Coors Light and a 12 pack of mountain Dew I had a buddy at his machine shop press in the Athena gears . 54-55 mph just like that .
So Estimate on each up grade . Wild Lion pipe 3 Mph . Next R 5 mph Polini Variator 2 mph Malossi Sport 6 mph Gears 6 Mph with with 11 to 1 gears Because of the Wall Of Wind you Run Into and Rpm Overlap with power. These results on there own They dont fully stack together.

Some good stealthy pipes out there now. The Malossi wild lion looks like it's got an impressive rev range, for that type of pipe. I have not seen a Leo Vince ZX for sale for a long time now. It's a shame they were a great pipe. It was replaced by the ZX-R. Then Leo Vince got in a financial crisis. Stopped production of most of their exhausts. I think the TT is the only performance pipe you can get now. 😢

They were stock crank friendly and gave really good performance on stock 50 and sport 70 builds. Currently my Newest Vino is pushing 9300 rpms with Lion pipe and a slightly ported Malossi Sport . Powerband starts pulling after 5k rpms and pushes past 8500 rpms . Very easy to set up the CVT when its that wide. This is my go to pipe on any build I want to keep under 9500 rpms .

I am really torn now. I want to buy an exhaust for the typhoon. Was thinking of getting a Yasuni Z. Had one year's ago on my standard water cooled Jog. Really punchy. But that bloody Zino has got in my head now with stealth pipes. Been looking at this www.pedparts.co.uk/product/1158/stage6-street-exhaust--piaggio

With a normal clutch you typically have different tension springs typically 500-1000 rpms difference in clutch engagement The Delta Clutch Chart above Gives a Crazy amount of options and can look overwhelming . 6 different springs The delta lets me find 3 extra tension points with each spring . This lets me set the clutch to engage in the pipes powerband not before and be doggy off the line . 2 different deltas clutch weights with 3 more engagement points for each. The coolest thing by dialing in the weights that you can make the clutch engage really snappy for popping wheelies.
Here is How to methodically tune it Clutch Bite Try for Wheelies Yes Position 1 For weights No need for Wheelies Position 3 For weights Not Sure Position 2 Then Treat It like a regular clutch .( I ignored Tension 1 and 2 because they are basically the same) Start with the lightest spring. Find the Tension spring in Position 3 that when you roll on the Throttle You Jump off the line , Because you are in the power band If you roll for 20 feet then feel the scoot start pushing go up a spring.
This gave me a good initial tune . Use The above Charts as a Guideline I found that the bottom chart was correct in that red was tighter than yellow But the rpm ranges were not at all close to the chart . The difference in weights positions was real close to correct 200-300 rpms for each position . The tensions were real close Pos 1 and 2 100-200 rpms The position 3 is way tighter 1000 rpms plus .

It appears from the Dynos I found it Might have a Little Higher Rpm Range .
