The pipe needs to be clean no mud or dirt so get that off first just wipe the mop and GLO all over the pipe . Run it down the road wipe some mop and GLO on the pipe again and it will cook on again
I did 3-4 mop and GLO application/rides in a row and then a couple times a season I just wipe on a light coat the Mop and GLO .

I noticed you recommended this: www.scootertuning.ca/en/299-engine-packageIs this pipe better than stock? Should I try and get a yasuni r instead? I noticed you recommended keeping oil pump... I think my pump may have failed. Should I replace or just start premixing? I am original owner... Scooter does have 20k miles now... Almost everything is stock... I have replaced clutch 4 maybe 5yrs ago and new drive belt... First new plug and air filter was last yr... Now I notice my starter clutch rollers and springs are shot... My rollers in my variator have flats about a 1/4in ... So the kit above you mentioned in another thread covers a lot. I've been wanting to do the 70 kit just procrastinate to much... Now my scooter is down so figure I should do so upgrading. Please Help. Thank You

To check the oil pump you can take the oil pump off. You can remove the drive wheel, then put the shaft into a drill. Run it in reverse. It should pump oil out if it's working. What year is your Zuma? If it's the later one, you can do the throttle mod to improve performance.

I have the 2002 Zuma... I think first year bug eye. Probably about 100f in the garage today... I will take oil pump off when it cools down a bit and test... I really like using the pump... But in all honesty if it did fail I will always worry another will fail again.. âšī¸
Thank you for your advice... I will try for sure... I appreciate all the help I can get.

I would guess the carb mod in the video would probably help when I do a 70 kit?

you have the 2002-2005 carb it does not need this throttle mod
why do you think your pump failed if it did you would have blown your engine the stock pumps works well all the way up to 11 thousand rpms I don't premix any of my scoots that run under 60 mph I would think about it above that speed
I have run all these pipes on my Zuma the yasuni r is a great pipe it is loud like all expansion pipes it will be more powerful than the street pipes it will require a upgraded carb 17.5 or 19 dellorto is what I ran you will need hard clutch springs and lighter weights or it will feel very sluggish till it gets into the power band .
The street pipes look like stock tecnigas silent pro, malossi Wild lion ,stage 6 street are more powerful than stock you can get by with stock transmission settings but medium clutch springs and slightly lighter weights may make it feel even spunkier .
A street pipe and a quality 70cc kit malossi sport , polini sport ,stage 6 streetrace top performance with a stock carbs would push 45-50 mph . The vinos I run break 50 with this set up .

Now getting excited...parts are ordered ....Hopefully everything goes together smoothly and scooter runs again....
I am figuring I can leave the electric start in... Maybe remove the gear assembly that's screwed in and just use the starter clutch without the rollers and springs... Looks like springs are disintegrated anyway... This way everything stays correctly spaced... Thoughts?

Excellent advice I followed closely and now my '03 Zuma is the perfect commuter. Very impressive 0-40 and with Athena 15:50 rear gears, tops out just over 50. I might be able to tuck in and get a couple more MPH but on 10" wheels, I feel that's enough

Good Morning,
Thinking about prep for the rebuild. Have a couple questions.
Is it recommended to do chamfering to the cylinder ports?
Do I need to use any form a gasket besides the gasket when installing the cylinder to the case?
I've heard I should torque the cylinder to the case like 10-12ft lbs? Does that sound correct?
Using the stock air box should I need more air? Heard maybe removing a plug on the box to get more air?
Main jet... I haven't checked yet but stock is suppose to be a 80jet... Heard I should go-to a 88jet... Does that sound correct?
I'm sure I will probably be asking more questions soon.
Thank You in advance... You all are awesome! đđģ

Good Morning, Thinking about prep for the rebuild. Have a couple questions. Is it recommended to do chamfering to the cylinder ports? yes this will help not catching a ring Do I need to use any form a gasket besides the gasket when installing the cylinder to the case? only if you have a more extreme kit that requires you to dial in squish do you use extra gaskets I've heard I should torque the cylinder to the case like 10-12ft lbs? Does that sound correct? that is covered in Yamaha service manual use a torque wrench and then after the first time you warm it up and run down the road retorqe the head it often times needs to settle in Using the stock air box should I need more air? Heard maybe removing a plug on the box to get more air? use the stock air box as is it is the easiest to tune and that air box flows enough to feed a 90 cc 2 stroke once you start adding holes you make it harder to tune the carb Main jet... I haven't checked yet but stock is suppose to be a 80jet... Heard I should go-to a 88jet... Does that sound correct? be prepared to up jet this depends most on what pipe you use as long as you keep the air box stock , If you went with a street pipe you may just need to adjust the needle I'm sure I will probably be asking more questions soon. Thank You in advance... You all are awesome! đđģ
