If they used the CDI/EMU for the restriction, you probably won't have much of an option unless it's something a dealer can change (maybe contact other dealers and see if you get the same answer) or someone makes an aftermarket unit. We've had multiple European members tell us how strict some areas are about scoots and mods, so it's possible that Peugeot had no concern for this ever being able to be ran at full speed. If they make many scoots with the same unit, maybe something will come out if it's not already out. If they don't sell a bunch of scoots that use this, then the aftermarket may not pay much attention or it may not be worth it for them to design something.
You could always go to extremes and try to convert to carb and a more traditional CDI or use an aftermarket engine management setup. That is likely more trouble than it's worth in the long run and you may turn what I'd expect to be a very reliable and user-friendly EFI scoot into a bunch of headaches.

I have literally just been messaging back and forth with a real helpful chap at Peugeot UK...…… He says that the restriction is in the transmission and mentioned that a grinder would be needed but unfortunately wont tell me exactly how to do it as if I did it wrongly I could sue him as he works for Peugeot UK! Also said my dealer SHOULD know how to do it and will be contacting them to see why they said it cant be done...……..

If it wasn't for the fact that my short commute involves a 50mph limit with many idiots using it I wouldn't be so worried about it.….. if I could get it to do 40-45mph it would be safer...…….

Buy a bigger scoot AND get a chip for the ECM when/if they become available like some car models. Everything depends on those input sensors, map, rpm, temp, throttle position, timing, etc. which feed into a ROM with performance info. Any disturbance of those inputs will affect performance, -usually negatively.

It sounds like it may just be a drive boss restriction. Not sure if that's correct, but many scoots have a drive boss with a larger section on it that won't allow the front pulley (variator) to close enough to reach full speed. Sometimes people replace the boss totally, sometimes they grind it off or have it done on a lathe. IF that's the case, make sure it's done with a smooth finish and kept round and true so it doesn't create wear or vibration issues. It could just be a ring somewhere, maybe tack welded and easy to grind off. Hopefully the dealer will just handle whatever it is for you after being contacted by the manufacturer. Keep us updated.

Fuel use will depend on terrain, speeds, acceleration, etc. Keep track of your fuel use and watch those fuel use factors.
