I was mostly useless, but I did at least offer assistance and eventually help load a scoot and move sandbags. Apparently New Yorkers carry 210 pounds of sandbags around in their trucks just in case it snows at any moment. Seemed like nice people. Offered to buy me whatever if I wanted to come to the brewery that they were headed to. They said they make a trip down this way annually with riders from MD, PA and NY from the license plates that I saw.
I wanted to race them all so bad. That's all I ever think about. Didn't think it was appropriate to ask at the time though. lol
One of them also noted that they worry about the vintage Vespas breaking down and it's the modern one with just under 10,000 miles on it that caused the trouble. He put on an aftermarket exhaust and that's what the hole was in. I think it was the cheap stainless stuff, so if he had wanted to weld it, I probably couldn't have done anything for him with flux core.

Doing the MBSR I've learned that to always make sure at if it can break/wear out to change it before a long distance ride. Or bring handtools and spare parts just in case

Nice of you to offer assistance. We always stop for our two wheel brothers. ((unless it's a four stroke!)

Or bring handtools and spare parts just in case The guy that broke the belt said he thinks they recommend checking it at 8,000 miles and he is just shy of 10,000. The support truck didn't even have a phillips screwdriver. A basic tool kit may be on the to-do list for next year in the truck. I have something like 28,000 miles on the belt of my TMAX and it has been a long time since I looked at it. I should get motivated to do that after this... but will I? lol

Hell, I broke down right next to a biker bar, but it was full of HD riders. Not a single one offered assistance. Sandbags are standard equipment for trucks in Kansas too. We just try not to carry them all year. Now up in Idaho and Montana way they carry all year....
The riders should have each been carrying a basic tool kit. What is wrong with riders up in the north east? Is it like la la land East?
Your Flux core may not have helped but a regular MIG or TIG would have worked. Sounds like the chase truck should carry an old fashioned muffler bandage and some hose clamps.
Did you pass out some 49ccScoot stickers?

When he stopped for the second time right in front of my house, the rest of the group kept going. The support truck behind him stopped and one other guy came back 10 minutes later and said the rest of the group left him as well when he tried to slow or stop to see if they were coming. Did you pass out some 49ccScoot stickers?
I don't even have stickers for myself. Didn't mention the site. I wish I at least asked where they are from online. I assume it must be a forum or facebook group or something.

The rest of the group must have been real thirsty...

I'm guilty of this. I gotta get a tool kit put together. To be fair though with tuning and what not the furthest I've gone was 21mi round trip to pick up some prints from a friend... I still was nervous about that trip, but if anything went to shit I could have taken the train home. One benefit of living in a major city! I did forget my lock that day though. Like you said la la land.
