So, after destroying 2 ebay and Amazon bbks and frying 8 starters and 3 crankshafts... what am I doing to put both my Chinese scooters back together? Taking a poll to see what parts go into the 2012 taotao (assuming) atm50 and the 2008 vitacci solana (assuming), 49cc scooters. Both have 100cc bbks,heads,a9 cam, aftermarket exhaust, orange cdis and coils, but one was built off ebay and one off Amazon... What are the best of what money can buy, and what's the slim budget build? Who has the secret sauce, and who can build a 139qmb on a budget? Let the polls begin!

No matter what you decide, what you get may be more random in quality than you suspect. I would not use the orange colored coil & CDI. Stock seem to work better in the long run, and are easier on the starter. If you go for the max displacement, your bits and pieces may come apart sooner. If you regularly rev to 8000 rpms and up, the parts are going to be stressed more than those that keep rpms lower. TANSTAAFL. No free lunch. Going to the 'max' on everything, you tend to reduce the reliability, no matter where you source your parts. On that note, the vendors request bids from their suppliers, and set the quality and tolerance requirements. Vendors may fudge a bit, and if your vendor doesn't know, or doesn't inspect, the parts you get from Bob's Parts one day can be totally different from Bob's Parts on the next order. IOW, MOST have no loyalty to their suppliers. Ok, some loyalty, but you don't know living in Seesaw, KS, where Bob's is getting their parts on the day you order. My take, in general, is to order from several vendors, see their response and ability to fill an order without mistakes such as missing things, wrong parts, or substituting parts that are not the from the specified vendor. (I have had them all occur) They can also be slobs at packaging and shipping, where you are lucky if the parts don't fall out in transit, or end up with extra 'voids' and 'crevices' not in the original design. If you find a vendor that reliably ships what you order, in reasonable time, without errors, packed for survival, and provides good quality, keep using them until they disappoint. I tend to take them all with a grain of salt. Some can be downright irritable and difficult to even talk to, especially when they hang up on you. aliexpress is 'variable' in quality and shipping speed(and packaging), but if they don't deliver, or the parts are useless or incorrect, you will get a refund. tom
