hi my names Jeff i just bought my gf a 50cc Dazon Diamond back scooter for her 21st birthday which was Friday.. We live in Las Vegas and she doesn't need her license but she can legally drive the scooter on the roads to get back and forth to work. I paid 250 for the scooter it has low miles. But i have a concern about it and since im new at this i don't know what or how to fix. The speedometer doesn't work and i would like to know how to fix that and the other thing is that when we drive it, it pulls pretty bad to the right. And the kick start lever not on it either but im not worried about that right now b.c it has a new battery and it starts right up no problems.. Any ideas why its pulling to the right and how do i fix the speedo...
thanks guys

:welcome:
The speedometer setup consists of the gauge, a cable, and a sender on the front wheel for most scoots. Check the connection of the cable on both ends first to be sure it's screwed on snug. If that checks out, unscrew the end from the gauge and spin the front tire. You should see the cable inside spinning. If not, you need to pull the sender off of the wheel and see what's up. They usually use tabs that fit into place with grooves on the wheel where they mount so the sender will turn with the wheel. Could be a tab is bent or maybe it just wasn't installed right. If the cable is spinning and the speedometer still doesn't work, it's probably a bad speedo.
For the pulling, are the handlebars straight when the wheel is straight? Does it look like the rear wheel/engine are straight with the rest of the scooter?
You can probably get a kick lever cheap on eBay check the classifieds here for someone parting out a scoot or post a wanted ad. Also, Scrappy Dog Scooters is in Vegas. They sell a lot of parts at decent prices so they might be able to help there.
I just read a post from another Vegas rider talking about cops out there pulling over scooterists running faster than 30MPH and fining/ticketing for lack of insurance, registration, and motorcycle license. Just a heads up, because I'm sure those fines aren't cheap.

Watch out for a broken speedo cable as well. If the cable doesn't turn when you spin the wheel that could also be a problem (had that happen to me).

what i like to to to check speedos make sure its screwed in at the wheel (this is the easiest place to check and i have seen people loosen them here to keep the miles down) if its tight and doesnt work then pull the cable off there and hook your drill up to it and spin the cable with your drill if the speedo works its your hub if it doesnt work then its time to pull the cluster apart check to make sure its screwed in at the gauge(if its loose tighten and recheck with drill) if it is pull it off spin the cable with the drill again and watch to see if the cable spins if it doesnt or it spins slower then the drill your cable is broken
if it spins then what i like to do is hook the cable back up to the hub and take it for a short spin with the cluster off the bike and try and watch for the cable to spin
at this point if the cable is spining then the cluster is bad

as for teh pulling to one side like was said check the bars and make sure the rear wheel looks cenetered
also does the bike look like it has been droped or in any sort of a wreck to me a missing kick start i would start to look for damage to the left side of the scooter
