Im just now realizing that the bottle I bought for my 150, and my sister's 50 is in fact not 85w90, but 85w140. Her trans is already bad, and i beat on my scoot pretty hard. Is this a "need to change it right now" type deal? Will it cause damage??

I would not panic I have run both of those weights in my scooters that run 10,000 rpms Some high rpm scooters have you run 10 w 30 which is inferior to both those gear oils .

Thanks man, had me freaking out hard for a good hour or so lol. Would it kill power for me? My sis just rides hers, so I'm not too concerned about her performance. But where im trying to get max hp from this motor, would the thicker consistency at high heat in the gearbox rob me of any power? I run 10w40 for the motor btw

Huh....that graph shows that with regular 85w140 is least efficient, but im glad to see efficiencies up above 90% in general. Im running the Valvoline high performance, but Im definitely gonna look for Redline next time I swap. Thanks! Also, that may not be true, I suck at reading graphs. Barely scraped through Stats class lol

Motor oil and gear oil are held to different parameters. My Genuine Stella is a direct copy, well almost, of a PX 150 Vespa. It runs straight 30w motor oil in the Transmission. Gear oil has different additives. Run what's called for, but what you did isn't going to hurt it. Any is better than none.
