Hey all, this will be my first post here.
Recently a friend of mine sold me his Yamaha cv80 and I've been starting to do some repairs to try and get it going better. He rode it around locally a lot and always told me when it had an issue, so I don't think he gave me a lemon or anything, but in 2 weeks I have had quite a few issues.
The main thing I'm focused on right now is the Carburetor. I really would like to rebuild it but have had no luck finding a kit. The carb leaks a ton of fluid from the bottom nipple (friend said it was an overflow), and it can't hold it's fuel. Also the carb is coated top to bottom in what seems to be oil.
On top of that it likes to stall and when taking off it bogs down. Keeping it started in traffic is a nightmare so I can't ride it on the street.
The problem is I can't find a kit for this. Now I will admit that this isn't my project at the moment (my car broke down), but I would really love to get this going.

Parts are still available from Yamaha or you can find old stock listed on numerous sites.there are not a lot of moving parts to "wear out" so that's why you can,t find a repair kit :)but they do get very dirty over the years,I use all manor of implements to clean every port and airway so I can cross off dirty carb off the list.strip the carb down and take pictures as you go for the rebuild.the old Yamaha's use a paper gasket between the bowl and body I would replace that with one from Yamaha.

Geoff The problem I seem to be having is this Carb has no support from Yamaha or the maker of the carb. It's the most bizzare thing but from other things i've read it seems they acknowledge the model below and above, but this one there's nothing. I really want to find a kit with the gaskets so I can make it stop leaking and being a mess. I'll follow the guide on cleaning when the time goes. I have an ultra sonic cleaner I use for watch movements (well, I got distracted and left it on after having it for years, and it killed the transducer. I have a replacement I haven't put in or tried), but if all goes well it should be a good thing. I'm trying my best to give this thing the best I can. The previous owner and the owner before that have gotten really excited about the care it's been given so far, but there's been a lot of snags with finding parts and info. It's such a cool little scooter so it's a shame I can't redo it easily.

Sometimes they will have old stock. The problem you are going to find, is you find one. It will be so old it might be hard or brittle any way. Looking at the picture. It's a flat gasket. Just measure the thickness. And order some gasket paper.

I am a bit worried about taking this thing apart but before even doing anything I need to get a shutoff valve for the fuel line. This thing doesn't have one but instead has a vaccum petcock that seems to be causing issues. At this point this thing leaks so much it'll need a fuel line shutoff anyways, but I have no idea where it's leaking from. Whenever I park it it sure marks its territory, and anytime I put fuel in it loses most of it quickly.Seems like I need to make another post..

You could probably find a fuel petcock that would work with this scooter quite easily. They all work very similarly. And it there is no vacuum, should not let fuel past.
