Never heard of them, but apparently invented by the same guy who invented the Lectron style carb. It would be super cool if they made one of these small enough for our interests. rb.gy/1emg0x

I looked on their website and they do make a 25mm version, which is out of stock right now.
I'm entertaining the idea of putting that on my Elite mini-stroker build I have planned. That is if the parts to build it ever get restocked...

I haven't seen the link because Malwarebytes keeps popping up on those redirects telling me they're trojans. Not sure if it's in there, but there's also something called STIC that some people like even more than the Smart Carb or Lectron. It's an add-on though, so if you don't already have a carb that works it would be really expensive. Well, they're all really expensive. I've considered a Lectron for T2 since many tell me I need a bigger carb or the round slide is antiquated, but it's just so much money for something that I don't think will make a massive difference to me. www.hpracedevelopment.com/stic-metering-block.html

I've tried for years to get someone from SmartCarb to send me one for testing so we could offer it. They're expensive, but if they work well then I don't think those of us who make big 2t builds would shy away. Most of us would need a smaller bore carb still, but a 25 could be tested on a P200 or something...
So far I've never gotten so much as a 'No Thank You' email.
Doesn't give me tons of confidence. I mean, there's got to be something to it, the company has been around in one iteration or another for a while now, but... I dunno...

I'd imagine 25-28mm should work fine on many 2T builds. Not for a 70cc sport, but plenty of race stuff runs 24-30mm. That's where the market would be for a $500 carb. If you've got a sport 70, it would have to be one heck of a carb to make it worth that. It's the HP junkies that are used to buying $400 exhausts and $500 cylinders that are more likely to do it. At least that's what I'd think.
It's kinda crazy to me that you could get a 750CFM Holley or Edelbrock carb for similar money to these fancy little carbs.

Almost all of the guys I know that run Elites around here run 24, but mostly 28mm PWK style carbs, given, most throw huge carbs on because they don’t know what they’re doing otherwise. It’s my understanding though that the AF16 platform really does need a bigger carb than the Mina platform because of the inefficient path of airflow.

Would seem like something I would add to my 150cc scooter if it could be easily swapped with the Stock Carb for better fuel economy.

Digging up this old thread in hopes we can continue this conversation.
I am building a 88cc mini stroker AF18E motor with all the upgrades you can have. Racing flywheel, Arrow Expansion Chamber, big valve carbon fiber intake, Ported cases, high compression head, Ported cylinder, the works.
I have been talking with some experienced Dio builders in my area and from Hawaii for advice. Apparently the Honda intake is poorly designed. The most common solution is a larger carb to help aid in properly filling of the crankcase. It's common for people to run 24mm+ PWK carbs on a regular 70cc street build, a build that on a Mina platform you would use a 17.5 or 21mm round slide. It was recommended to me that I run either a Polini PWK 26 or something similar. I decided I'd like to look into a SmartCarb 26mm as an alternative. It's *very* expensive, however it's claims to being very easy to tune, self adjusting and better fuel economy all sound great to me.
Has anybody here used a Smart Carb before? Anybody have any results? After digging around online it seems there's a lot of people who love the Smart carb as well as Lectron in dirt bike circles. I have only met one person who used a Smart Carb on a Dio, and he said it's the best carb hes ever used.

Hippo if you have the penga(money) try it! It sounds like it may be for you.Personally even if I was still trying to carb a 455ci Buick engine I could get an Edelbrock or a custom Rochester Quadrajet for cheaper than 700 bux and Buick performance parts prices are a bit higher compared to Chevy and Ford parts. So yeah personally its a bit too much but it may be worth every cent to you.Decisions decisions....

why not just run the Polini 26 PWK. i have heard only good things about that carb. but hey, when faced with tuning Chinese PWK's, im sure the quality control for the Polini makes it a lot easier to tune right out of the box. if you don't like it, you can sell it and get a smartcarb. im sure the Polini carb will hold it's value.
Smartcarb seems like it's in the same ballpark as the Lectron, you tell them what you have and they preset the carb for you. i just wouldn't know how experienced they are with carbing CVT bikes, seems like both companies target people that have bikes with gearboxes, not CVTs.

Since this thread started, I have put a lot of time into a Lectron. Dealing with a Lectron may be a totally different animal, or they may be closely related. I'm not sure.
What I can tell you about my experience with the Lectron so far is this... don't believe the hype about bolt-on and go or make a couple of small adjustments and go. Not with a custom application. With a stock or common dirt bike setup that they've had in their shop, it sounds like a lot of people do have that experience. My belief of that was pretty much backed up by one of their staff telling me that it's a custom application and will require more effort to get in tune.
I have a 30mm High Velocity Lectron. I was told that they really only like to sell those to drag racers, because they flow so much that it's tough to tune on small engines that start out as 49cc.
It is a neat setup. It seems like if you got one close out of the box, it would be pretty simple to fine tune without ordering more parts. Mine was not that close out of the box. It sputtered on takeoff and when I finally got it leaned out enough to go, it was lean part throttle and ate the edges of a piston.
That said, I've now been through multiple metering rods. They're $30 each, plus shipping. I've got 2 more to try and if those don't work then I guess I'll need to install a 2nd power jet to band-aid the lean part throttle. Lectron has been helping me. I have been getting advice and they've sent me a couple of free rods and the 2nd power jet kit. I have made a video series about this. Thought it would be 1 video of bolt on, mild adjust, and move along. Not so much. I've managed to piss off their marketing department with my factual depiction of my experience with the carb. What I've done has been well off of any ad I've seen.
I'd like it to work out, because I never try to make anyone look bad... what happens is what I show though. Also, because I would like to see if it self-adjusts to weather/elevation changes if I can get it to a tune that I'd hope it stays in.
As interesting as the metering rod and power jet setup is, I find it leaving me wishing that I had a multi-point system to work on. With the metering rod and power jet, the metering rod is everything till the last roughly 1/4 throttle, and the rod still has an effect there. So, if you can get it tuned so that everything other than 1 area is right, if that area is not around WOT for power jet tuning, you have to try to find what rod will work. On the flip side, if I had a tune basically right, but say my idle was off... I'd adjust the mix screw or change the pilot jet. Sometimes simplicity overcomplicates things.
Using a 30mm is not helping my cause, but it has been so far from what I thought it was going to be and there's a lot of money required to get the Lectron and tuning bits. Decide if what you think it will do is worth the cost and don't think it's magic.
