Are you running a Cylinder Head Temp gage?
It's very useful for carb tuning.
It's a great tool to monitor off-throttle temps. Depending on your carb tune, it may run well on-throttle, however there is a potential for heat spikes when you are off-throttle, which can result in soft seizing.
As far as your head gasket not being trimmed to the bore diameter or larger, if the gasket slightly protudes into the bore, it creates an area of heat. This was a problem when honda car guys would swap H22 vtec heads onto F22 blocks, use of the wrong head gasket in that scenario lead to detonation when the block/head combo was boosted/turbocharged.

I used my S6 dash with Tacho and headtemp guage for a build a few years ago (it was a 4t though) and I used to watch the temps like a hawk. they would rise and full and I jetted around it however I disregured the temps and tuned by feel/ear. to get the temps down the carb was jetted way too rich. so I just unplugged it.
just for the sake of curiosity, Ill pull it off that bike and put it on this build and report back.
Ive also got a S6 EGT but I avoid using that too as I need to drill a hole in the pipe then weld it back up after its tuned.

How did you arrive to 175psi target and for what octane rating was that goal in mind for?
Great documentation and fun project. Thanks for sharing!

by way of update, the engine want flawlessly until it didn't The small end let go and destroyed EVERYTHING! I'm not even mad though. it was a super fun project and we clocked it with a gps at 104kph. not sure what that equates to for you mph folk but its fast enough for me. the only salvageable items are the exh, cases and inlet gear. crank and cyl are completely munted. Ive got new parts on the way and ive begrudgingly learnt my lesson and bought better quality parts this time.

I built one a couple months back, But I made the mistake of trusting the head gasket "delron" It melted and I swapped cylinders out for now. The ebay cylinder is still good tho. The ebay cylinder has bigger boost ports than any cylinder i've seen yet. Bigger than polini and PR racing kits. Idk about malossi; havent blown up,I mean purchased, one of their kits yet. As soon as I have time, though; Those ebay cylinders are worth putting the work into, I think.
