So I recently bought a 150cc taotao powermax scooter from a friend. It's got the power I wanted from my hopped up 49s. But I want a bit more.... tried running a cone filter on it and it just bogs out, wont even get up to 30mph. Now I know more air in, requires more air out. But I'm not sure what to do with my intake and exhaust. What to do, what to do.

When you installed the cone filter did you upjet the carb?

I have heard good things of stock modified air box filters and such.

one thing to remember is that the intake is 'tune' to the pulsations of the airflow bouncing back through the carb into the plenum inside the air cleaner assembly. If you change things, you change how the 'air charge' is fed to the intake, possibly in a detrimental way. Just feeding 'more air' is not always a good thing. tom

Yep. 100%. Gotta upjet. My Yamaha 125 only went 45mph with a straightpipe and no upjetting. 30mph is really low, but if you did cam and all without upjetting, its reasonable. Mine was topping 60 with intake, modified exhaust, basically stock trans and jetting
