Played around with my rollers this morning in my ZX70 to regain some top speed. I find out I some how wond up with 7g rollers in my variator. Swapped out for 3x9g & 3x8.5g to maybe get some top speed. acceleration is great, it'll hold top speed great but it's still only hitting 80kph. Going down hill it will go to 90+(depending on hill size😁) but when I hit the flats again it heads right back to 80. Now would that be the final drive gears holding me back or is it simply swapping in a slightly stiffer contra spring? Because I thought I was able to go over 80(nearly) before my 70cc kit was added.

your rollers are "heavy" compared to most set ups either buy a roller tuning kit or plump for stock which is around 6g ,do sharpie tests on the variator and take notes as you try (thinking and feeling are unreliable ). Geoff

Geoff I second the roller tuning kit. I've had success with the Polini tuning kit, but there are tons of different ones around. It was a huge help in dialing in the right roller weights and it lets you make incremental adjustments.

Does the zx still have that restricted front variator that keeps it from closing ? The drive boss has a welded on lip on the one end
Those do seem like heavier weights ,kits and pipes like lighter weights than stock .
