Just a few pictures showing how I went about opening the clutch up. There are also a couple of pictures of the stock springs vs the after market springs purchased from Autotech355 [eBay seller]. Big differences. ___

___
I know, it looks pretty sketchy. Once I got the clamps right it wasn't too bad. Was afraid of damaging the clutch shoes. They were fine.
___
Notice the marks on the nut. It was very difficult to get a good grip on it with the clamps in the way.
___
The new one is much larger.
___
___
I'm liking it. Acceleration has been improved pretty significantly. Still can't get past 40 though O:

Good work figuring out a way to work with the tools you have. Got a pic of the variator by any chance, specifically the face where the belt rides. Just curious to see where the belt is traveling. I'm not sure if the RX8 has the same gearing as the Triton, but you should still be able to get over 40MPH. That's a good cruising speed for a stocker, but I'd think you could go faster top speed.

Yeah, I'll take it off tomorrow and get you a picture. Should I not use permanent marker for my line?

A permanent marker works.

I still have yet to check out the belts ride height on the pulley. But I did do another test... a steeper hill. I got up to 45. I guess that makes more sense.
On a side note, My brother's stock 5000km 1E40QMB does about 42 with 5.5g rollers... but has a little more acceleration. I'm thinking about switching to the yellow contra spring and yellow clutch springs for a more moderate setup.. I like the clutch engaging later but I think the red just engages TOO late

Okay- I was tuning my carb with the throttle wide open today and CVT cover off. Noticed that my belt does not go all the way to the top of the variator, but my rear pulley is opening completely. Is it possible that my belt could be too short to act as another restriction to lower top speed? I mean I know 45 mph is decent for a stock 1E40QMB scooter; but there is still room for improvement, obviously.

What belt have you got? You would want a 788 17 28 most likely.

I have no idea. Too late, cold, and wet to get anything done right now. From what I've noticed with my belt, it seems to have very faded markings.
Just in case; Is there a way to find out by counting the teeth and/or measuring?

My buddies RX8 came with a 780. Im not saying yours does, but if so get the 788 and that should help. I did from reading Verts stuff and it helps take-off and top-end some. Just go with a bando if you dont wanna spend allot on one. Bando is the best bang for buck IMO. I havent tried kevlar yet though....Reign likes his kevlar and has reported better take off and more with that belt.

Thanks for the numbers. I thought it might be too short, cause my rear pulley was completely open. Makes sense as another restrictor, just doesn't make sense performance wise. I might go with the kevlar just for the added security. I'll be putting about 2,800 miles on my scooter within just a 3 week time period this spring, so every little bit helps.
