As the title suggests, I was testing my friend's bike and pulled over to check everything when I noticed a leaf was sticking to the engine cooling fan. Does this happen often? Are there any ways to avoid it?
I'm inclined to believe that some of the cooling scoops some people use may actually make it more susceptible to picking up leaves.

I've never had issues with leaves before, scoop or not. I mostly used open shrouds, with no grill to protect the fan. I'd imagine any leaf sucked into there would get chewed up and spit out. If you happen to monitor any sort of engine temp and notice it increasing, then check your shrouds.

I have rode about 6,000 miles on my air cooled scooter. All year round. I have never seen a leaf in the fan.

I have seen leaves stuck to my fan intake, I just brushed them off.

Thanks for the responses. I think this year has been worse because of the rain and wet leaves which seem to get picked-up by the front wheel and stick more easily.
