Hi thanks for having me I’m Sam
I’m thinking of using either threebond 1184 or 1215 on my winter project (nut and bolt restoration from the frame up 1991 Yamaha bws ) what do you guys use for the crank case sealing ?
the Minarelli work shop Manuel states yamabond 1215 I’m assuming that it is threebond 1215 ? Any body know for sure?
I can add pics of my progress if anybody’s interested I’m well in to the build

I dont think the sealant type is critical, have used many types over the years as long as it stays pliable it'll do fine..

Welcome to the forum. A few of us are from the U.K. I have used yamabond for years, but also used threebond 1184 when I couldn't get it. Post some pictures up of your bws in the build section. I have had a bws, but a 2002 model. And a slider which uses the same vertical engine.

Thanks guys I have both 1184 and 1215 so either is ok then? the 1215 has a lot higher heat range I think? Yes I love the slider I had one in 2000 when they were new, great bike.
I’ll post some pictures of the build soon

After doing some reading on here, would you All agree that silicone based gasket makers (TB1215) isn’t the best for fuel resistance?
And (TB1184) being Synthetic based would be a better choice? I know I’m rabbiting on abit about it! don’t want to be splitting these cases again anytime soon so just want to pick some brains and get it correct the first time
Thanks again

Threebond 1184 is a direct replacement for HondaBond and YamaBond4. It's used when the cases might not be 100% flat. Looks like 1215 is used more for gearboxes. I'm sure either would probably work ok
