Did you upgrade the crank ? what pipe do you have matched up with it . That kit likes to spin up to 11k or so .
With gears properly tuned with Yasuni c 16 65 mph plus or minus . Ryan ott runs A Athena Evo which is the race .

Yamaha Zuma 2008 Athena Hyper Race 70cc Big Bore Kit catalogs.wps-inc.com/2020/street/714/This is a complete Athena race kit I purchased with a 19mm Del Orto carb. The kit includes Athena manufactured: -Shaped dome head -Ported cylinder -High compression piston -Hyper race crankshaft -Carbon reeds -exhaust Del Orto 19mm carb Pollini manual choke I have already installed my mods & I have some questions. Has anyone had problems with the Athena carbon reeds seal on reed cage? What type of performance should I expect? Should I use the oil injector or delete & run premix? Is the NCY variator & clutch kit good? Which ratio final drive gear should I run? Do I need to use a 45 or a 90 degree intake for air filter?

If you think the reeds are no good. Don't use them. As long as you can't see any light getting through, they should be ok. The performance will depend on what exhaust you choose to get. I always run premix on big bore kits. It's personal choice really. If you have already installed the mods. The position of the carb will tell you what angle of filter is best.

The kit came with an Athena exhaust, & I am not using the reeds because they are not sealing off on the reed cage. The next mods will be: V force reeds Pod filter NCY super transmission kit (any reviews on this?) Final gears: Pollini 13x 44 or Athena 15x50?
I can’t find any reviews or much information on the Athena Hyper Race kit. I need to do a little fine tuning, but I was expecting a lot more power from the race kit.

The carb might me holding you back. I would of thought about a 21mm carb would be ideal, as most race cylinders out their are about 15hp. Have a look here. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/1366I'm not sure how good the exhaust is. Not a lot of people use Athena exhausts. What RPM are you seeing? Most of these setups go up to 12,000rpm.

Nah that 19 is a perfect fit for that setup and any very fast 70cc street setup. You 'can' go bigger, yes. But you certainly don't have to. It's a very nice setup. No experience with that pipe but love to try it out once. It looks very good from an engineering perspective. Probably comparable to a Yasuni c16, maybe even higher revving. I'd say 15hp is doable with this setup including 19mm. Also, reed petals have a concave and a convex side. Flipping them over might help with sealing properly. Myself I had the athena hyper race cylinder on my 70mph daily driver. Was very very pleased with it. Coming from a country where scooter tuning used to be suoer hot. Athena hyper race cylinders always had ta solid reputation of being that steady, high quality, fair priced, fast and no nonsense units. In other words you can go wrong with em. So its a very good buy.

I have used the Athena hyper race and person really loved it. As far is air cooled cylinders that have been blessed to run this by far is probably my favorite only thing I would say could be improved drastically is the head gasket design other than that they are surprisingly durable and Make a good amount of power my favorite air cooled cylinder so far. I never messed around that much with the CBT but the cylinder seems to like high revs up to 12000 rpm

Hi, old thread, but how many hours are you guys getting on pistons and rings, running this hyper race kit on the street? They can go a very long way as long as long you get it tuned right and have to patience to warm it up properly before you start going WOT. Not sure about mileage or hours but id say 5000km should be doable.

I am running a Most Wicked 70cc in my prebug Zuma atm with a Malossi 10mm pin crank, C16 pipe, PWK 24mm carb, MXS intake with Vforce reeds and am really pleased with it. Squish set right at .68 so close enough to the .7 they recommend. Running it on 93 octane and its been great!
I got to looking around on scooter tuning today and they had 15% off on the Athena Hyper Race cylinder so with it being on sale and the want for some more power i grabbed it up! I'm not sure what the compression is on the Most Wicked kit but i see the Athena Hyper Race is 13.8:1 Will this be fine for 93 octane fuel? Thanks in advance for any information.
