Is there a simpletons guide/book that's in-depth on the subject that covers our scooters etc anyone know of. I prefer books but not to worried as not seen anything much about it.

Complete circuits, complete circuits, complete circuits.... You must understand what constitutes a complete circuit, both power and return. Basic circuits covers most of it, basic automotive electric circuits, then remember that the simple 4 wire regulators are shunt regulators, not rectifiers. Larger and more expensive scoots with 3 power wires from the stator have actual full wave rectifier/regulators.
Scoots have VERY simple electrical systems.

Most problems are caused by corroded connectors and broken wires which stop complete circuits.
